Art Journal Journey - Puffin

The background for this page was made using Blueprint Sketch and Wilted Violet Distress Oxides smooched on an acrylic block and then with an image from Aall & Create (Numerator) stamped over the top and embossed in white ep.  The fact that the image is not fully stamped is intentional, a partial image often looks much better, especially when used as a background, than a complete one in my opinion.  I assure you it was no mistake.

Next I drew three circles with my White Posca Pen and then went over them with a Blue Gel Pen.  I stamped Reckoner Digits and a script stamp in various places over the background but not too much on the plain uninked part.  This was reserved for the man himself - the Puffin.

The idea for this came from something Tracy Evans of Aall & Create had done but as I do not have her puffins (I have no idea why) but I did have a puffin from another company and so I used that one, stamped, coloured in with Polychromos, fussy cut and then adhered to the page.

You will notice there are some small black and white circles at the base of the page - these are from a piece of Aall & Create washi tape which I used to ground the puffin and kind of finish the page off.  I am entering this into Fur and/or Feathers at Art Journal Journey.

Hi Neet, love your puffin, they are such pretty birds. Your page is very dramatic with the different colours and the white side in contrast, love it. Yesterday I spent half an hour looking through the mess on my table to find my white posca pen. Then i found it in my pocket....at least my table is a bit tidier now! Have a great day, and thanks for another wonderful age for AJJ, hugs, Valerie

Puffins in their mating coloration are so fantastic, aren't they? I can see why you chose one for your page. And I must say, I really like the background on this page. It feels almost like an old blueprint, and those partial numbers and letters look amazing. And white Posca pens are one of the best supplies, aren't they? I really like the puffin in the circle. I hope all is well, and happy middle of the week. hugs-Erika

I love your inked and stamped and embossed journal page! The background looks awesome. I agree, a partially stamped image is often more impactful in the background than a fully stamped image. The negative space is perfect contrast with the puffin entering it from the busier side.

Well done Neet - this is a fabulous page - love your use of colour on the side stripe, and the partial stamping

Your background is to die for. The use of white space is perfect, something I either get too much or too little of. I';ve never owned a Poscp [en, but I love the effect you got. That's a marvelous puffin. Quite a proud guy, too. He (and the entire layout) are mesmerizing and perfect for your theme at Art Journal Journey.
