Artful Times Challenge - Spots and Stripes or Circles and Straight Lines

Phew!  Von's latest challenge had me thinking as at first I read it as I had to include all four.  Now I have interpreted it as two separate things but not sure if I have really got the hang of it.  Oh heck, not to worry I don't think she will shout too much at me.

Well, I had not a clue what to do, had this vision of a mobile in my head with stripey strips hanging from an outer circle and circles hanging down from an inner one.  Had too many cards to make for 'birthdays', 'thinking of you', 'get well', 'new home' and other things to do so it remained on the back boiler.  Maybe one day!

Instead I opted for, what Von says it is 'very popular in', a journal page.  Gave me an excuse to use an already background painted (just the yellow/orange base) page and my new Dylusion stamps (yes I know they have been out ages but new to me - bought in America) and my old Dylusion stencils.

The flower was made from scrap paper that had had all manner of inks on it - you know the bit of scrap you put underneath not to stain your table.  Six punches of a circle, strip of same for stem and feehand cut leaves (well, nothing to that is there?).  Distress Ink (Rusty Hinge) through the stencil on the left with a bit of Signo White Pen to highlight and Butternut and Smoked Paprika Fresco paint for the circles.  The other colouring was done with gel pens.

The circles are obvious, would you call the round things on her legs and top of her dress circles or spots?  Stripes on her skirt, the soles of her boots and maybe on the leaves of the flower?  Whatever I think I have got the challenge covered, will have to see what Von thinks when she returns from her mega shopping spree at the show.

Well, what are you all waiting for?  Get going with the spots, stripes, circles and lines - am sure you are all brimful of ideas.  Look forward to seeing you joining in.

ps I also used my new Dylusion stamps to make a birthday card for my DIL - very similar to above and using the same words (only because the others on both plates might have offended her) but this time using a NEW stencil bought from my friend Mary G in America.

This time the background was Distress Inks (Picked Raspberry and Salty Ocean) and I used just DI's with the stencils rubbing the colour through with my Dreamweaver brushes.  My old stand by's, Twinkling H2o's painted the girl.

Bet she doesn't like it!
