"I never insult anyone. I simply describe them accurately" is the quote for today. As Tracy has chosen "My Favourite Colour is October" as the theme for Art Journal Journey I chose to make my background quite autumnal by using Distress Oxides in various orangey shades - Crackling Campfire, Ripe Persimmon, Candied Apple and Picked Raspberry. They were the colours I used in my layout last week, but in different mixes, which I showed yesterday on my blog.
I love autumnal colours, or October ones, and there is nothing I like better than to take a drive into the countryside and see all the trees and how they have changed into all the reds, oranges, golds and browns. It's such fun for me to walk through the woods and have the dry leaves crackling beneath my feet and be nice and wrapped up with my boots, scarf and mitts.
Anyway, this week's story is about the twins.
"Laura and Laurel were twin girls, both very pretty, tall and completely identical. Everything they did, everything they wore, mirrored the other one. They really were identical, except for one thing - Laura could have a bit of a sharp tongue at times. Laurel, on the other hand, was a very sweet girl.
This particular morning they were in their bedroom getting ready to go out. The air had taken a decided chill and so both girls decided they should wear long stockings (woolly ones), and a vest underneath their jeans and sweaters. Their two little dogs were waiting patiently for their walk, it was autumn and Spot was wagging his tail in anticipation of the walk through the woods where he could nose dive into the leaves that would surely be in abundance by now. I'm not sure Rex was feeling the same but he had let Laura put his boots on his feet in readiness.
The girls were chatting whilst they got ready about the huge circle of friends they had and how Maureen was always quick to say something, often quite insulting, about one of the other girls. Laurel had been quite upset the other day at something Maureen had said about their friend Jacqui and it was obviously bothering her as she brought it up into the conversation, again. Laura completely agreed with her sister but she was not always as careful as Laurel to choose her words. It made Laurel smile when Laura said, in the sincerest of tones "I never insult anyone. I simple describe them accurately". Laurel decided not to react so instead she just smiled and got on with choosing which sweaters they were going to wear that day."
I decided to put a few indications of autumn into the page and so I just stamped one of my favourite mushroom/toadstool stamps across the bottom and then, because it is a Dylusion page, I used a stencil to draw some leaves up the left hand side. Both purely borders and not part of the story.
