"If the young only knew, If the old only could" is the quote that determined what this page would be. To begin with I used Twisted Citron and Peeled Paint on the bottom of the page (Distress Inks) and Tumbled Glass on the top. My Tumbled Glass was running low and wanted reinking but it is one colour that I don't have a reinker for, but I rather liked the patchy look, and, as it was to resemble the sky I felt it worked as it was, I could have used Broken China over the top if I had wanted complete coverage.
Then I had to think which figures to use to illustrate my page. Years ago, forty to be exact come November, I did a parachute jump to raise money for the school's outdoor pursuits centre when I was teaching. Well, I broke my ankle, pretty badly. So I figured a young woman doing a parachute jump and an older lady watching might point out that parachuting is a fairly hazardous sport.
I chose to use the figure that I feel looks older than most for the lady and a body and young looking face for the parachuter who I made to look as if she was holding on to the ropes on her way down and her hair was extended down the left side to look like a helmet. All were coloured with my Promarkers as usual. I stamped the flowers and the ferns across the bottom of the page before adding the lady and had another go with my pencil crayons for colouring them in. I am really enjoying them but having just sent for yet another set of colours I will do a comparison shortly (like when the new ones arrive). What on earth do I want with so many coloured pencils? It's like the search for eternal youth - my search for the perfect colouring pencil. For Me!
I'll leave it there for this week and see what next week brings. In the meantime I am entering it into the challenge of Eileen's at Art Journal Journey with half the page being coloured green and there being the green in the flowers and plants.
