Jeudi Journal - Patience?

This is a new Journal that I have just started and I covered the whole page with Fossilised Amber Distress Oxide and then used Twisted Citron over the top through my new stencil from AAll & Create.  It was a free gift that came with a stamp I had bought from the new release by Tracy Evans.  Saying that the stencil is by Olga and is called Enchanted Garden.  I don't often use stencils like this, preferring simple geometric shapes like circles, triangles, triangles, squares etc but I am sold on this one so can see more purchases coming on before long.  Thanks Abs and the team for my lovely freebie.

"I had my patience tested - turns out I'm negative" is the quote we are using today.  Something we all go through from time to time.  My story today features Saffron and her little sister Jennifer ...

"Saffron was feeling particularly good about herself and the day.  The sun was shining, the birds were singing, butterflies flitted about in abundance and all was well in her world.  In fact she felt so good that she offered to take her little sister, Jennifer, Jenni for short, out for the morning so that mum could get some jobs done around the home.  There was always so much washing to be done in their household that she thought it would be good for mum to be able to get it done in relative peace and quiet and get it out on the line to dry.  Nothing smelled nicer than sheets that had been hung out to dry.

Mum was thrilled and so the two girls set off to one of the local National Trust properties that had lovely gardens.  It meant Jenni could run about and, hopefully, tire herself out a bit so she would sleep that night.  Before they left mum had given Jenni strict instructions on how she had to behave for her big sister, Saffron, as well as reiterating the rules of the countryside.

Well, as you can guess, things went wrong and it was not long before Jenni was running about and picking flowers.  She came running back with a small bunch, thrilled to bits and wanting Saffron to carry them home for mummy'.  Oh dear, you are not supposed to touch the flowers!  Saffron had to put her 'big sister' hat on and admonish Jenni for picking flowers.

"Mum told you not to pick flowers, she explained to you how they are there for everyone to enjoy" she said.  "I told you again when we got here. That's it!  We could both get into trouble if the gardeners saw you and what you have done.  We are going home now and I won't be bringing you anywhere like this again for a long time.  Not until you know right from wrong."

And with that the two girls set off back home where Saffron told her mum "I had my patience tested - turns out I'm negative."

Because I have got such a sunny background and there are flowers and butterflies on the page I am entering this into Alison's challenge over on Art Journal Journey where the theme is 'Summer Countryside'.  See you over there!

It's pity that she couldn't pick the flowers. It's wonderful if in wild flower fields you often can do that. And there are places where officially it's acceptable. A good story and perfect to the theme 🌻🐝🌸

I always love reading your made up stories you create. You are such a great storyteller with a fertile mind. I like that background and the subtle way the stencil took over without actually overpowering it. You created a real beauty that also works quite well with Alison's theme at Art Journal Journey. Thanks for sharing it, dear.

You have created another wonderful page and story. Poor Saffron had a hard job with her little sister. Thanks so much for joining us again at AJJ. Time has flown by today and I haven't really got anything done yet! We've got awful floods here, I hope it soon gets better. Hugs, Valerie

Nearly the same sort of story again and at least one head in common. Another great story and mix of figures.
Children do love to pick flowers for someone, so it was a nice thought.

I think being told not to pick flowers is too much temptation for some people. But what a great countryside page. You really made a beauty and the colors you used really pop off that fossilized amber background. And isn't it fun to start a new journal? All those pages have great potential. Hope you're having a nice week, and thanks so much for joining us at AJJ for Alison's challenge. Hugs-Erika

Neet this page is super fun. Love the background, all the flowers and their fun outfits plus your story is so creative (they always amaze me). The Mom's outfit reminds of of something that happened the other day. It was a Sunday I stayed in my PJs and my Son-in-law came over. When he left I noticed I was wearning some crazy printed black and white pants and another crazy printed brown and red PJ top (hey, they were clean and I found them in the dark) - they did not match and I am sure I looked a bit odd. I probably pittied me - lol! Years ago that would have horrified me but these days I just shrug my shoulders.

Another great read Neet - and I love the way you incorporated the quote - sounds as though Jenni is a bit willful... A great page and awesome use of the stencil

Oh dear, poor Jenni... I do understand the temptation! I need a Saffron to keep me in line. I love that stencilled background, and can absolutely see why you enjoyed stepping out of your geometric comfort zone... it's the perfect setting for a countryside walk. Thanks so much for joining us in the Summer Countryside at Art Journal Journey.
