WOYWW 821

Well, the cull is still on.  A slow process which is making a mess of my craft room and a mess of the spare room - I have to find somewhere to put the stuff I take out of my craft room don't I?  So crafting is on hold again apart from doing my Thursday blog page which can be done anywhere (or will have to be).

Maybe if I show you some photos of the craft room in all its glory mess and the spare room which is now known as the "dumping room" but hopefully only for a short time en route to the garage.

I've decided to put all the rubber stamps (and polymer) in a big box (and others when the big one is full) and store them in the garage for 6 months.  If I don't need them at the end of the 6 months then I will get rid of them.  I am just bothered I have been a bit too hard on some categories and may not have enough of a particular category so in 6 months I have time to put some back.  Ready for the photos?

This photo shows 3 cubby holes that are now empty having had ink pads in them before.  What is going in them next?

The shelves on the left have my paints and journal in plus lots of other things that don't be used much.

This bookcase fits those sets of drawers in so nicely but it is easier to  use the old silver boxes to store stamps in than these.  However the bottom set is being used for some stamps that are on A4 sheets.  The photo below shows the gap where the grey sets of drawers used to be housed.  Guess I will eventually get rid of all those Martha Stewart Punches too.  The white boxes have cut card/toppers I've made in them - they were what my 'surprise cream teas' arrived in that I kept treating my other half to to thank him for helping me when my back was at it's worse.

This last photo is in the spare room where everything has got dumped that has been taken from my craft room - mainly ink pads and stamps,

The table is ideal for crafting on and it goes in the garage, underneath are household boxes leaflets for appliances etc), boxes of fabric, my sewing machine, knitting wools etc.  That big box on top of the table is full to the brim with rubber/polymer stamps as are the silver tins and the black ones - in fact most of it is stamps.  You can just see a Prime box, back right - that has ink pads in as has the chocolate box underneath.

My back has been bad (seeing chiropractor every two weeks) since Christmas so this is a difficult task to do but one only I can do on my own.  Chas comes in handy for lifting now and then but that's the reason it is taking so long to do this.  Once done it will make life so much easier but in the meantime I will do bits of crafting one way or another.

Hope to see some nice things on some desks as I go snooping via Sarah's Craft Shed.  See you there.

I'm glad you shared this Neet. For one it is interesting to see your craft space instead of just your desk (although I know you are writing about what's on your workdesk.) And did you get rid of those old Martha Stewart punches? I ask because I have some and when I cleaned I asked myself the same question. I haven't gotten rid of them yet, because there are some cool ones, but the only punches I still really use are some circles and one star. So why am I keeping these? I could use the space for other items. Good luck with your cleaning and I hope your back improves. hugs-Erika

wow, that is quite a cull - a good idea to be able to store it for a time before deciding if you don't need it... I wonder how much will creep back?! It is a bit scary how much stuff we buy, isn't it.... (she says looking round behind her....) Happy WOYWW Helen #1

Wow, you really are having a major clear out aren't you Neet. I don't know if I could bear to part with all those stamps but needs must I suppose. I really hope that the chiropractor is helping a little with the back. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah

Well done you with all the sorting...it's a lot of work but I'm sure it will make crafting easier in the long run. Just do'ne overdo it.

Even doing a little each time in small doses will eventually show you big changes in your craft room. Hope your back eases soon. Putting stuff in a six month holding place is a great idea. I'm guessing there's a lot of stuff we all hang on to thinking it will be used one day. I'm very much guilty of that but I don't think I've ever missed something that I've cleared out. P xxxxx

That is a mammoth task and you’re doing the right thing taking it slowly - great idea to have the holding space in the dining room too. I think a sort out is essecntial every so often, gives you a craft and mental reboot. The Martha Stewart punches made me smile, I had this image of the lady wearing boxing gloves, lol! Hope your back starts behaving itself soon as well and that the chiro helps quickly.

Same as Erika! Circles are about it but the MS ones are so cool...looking good so far. I love organizing. Cut my finger, hard to type, so must be brief, but Happy WOYWW!

Good luck with this Neet! I have managed to give away a few things but it hasn't even made much difference to the space. Later in the year when hubby is away I'm going to have another go at it all. I have so many old stamps that I just know I wont use again but have to find someone that would like them. Now punches I was going to get rid of them and then realised I needed some of them so nothing happened there either. Think I'm not brave enough when clearing out. I do hope your back improves soon. Wishing you a very happy woyww. Hugs Angela x12x

You have set me thinking - yes I have punches that I could/should get rid of. Perhaps I will tackle that next. So sorry your back has been plaguing you all this time and praying the chiropractor can help. Don’t do too much! Happy WOYWW. Angela #3

Well done Neet for your massive sort out. It’s a good job you’re doing it slowly and I hope your back improves soon. It’s a good idea to face a holding area before the final dispatching.
Take care and happy WOYWW

What a challenge Neet. Take it slowly and make use of your lovely Chas for lifting. I hope your back eases soon. I'm glad you loved the twiddler. I've done a couple more since. I really do need to get rid of some of that yarn in my room and twiddlers use it up quite quickly. x x Jo 🌈

Hi, Neet! Thanks for sharing your craft space! I went through the same process when I was clearing my space. I am making another pass at the end of March. Having a dump room is the best way to approach it!

I still haven't purged my Martha Stewart punches. They will probably be the last to go! Hang in there, I worked on my space for three months. My hallway and my sitting room were my dump areas.

Take your time and rest your back!

You are going through what I just went through, even to putting everything in your spare room! I'm all done now, the spare room has minimal stuff left, and I just have to get rid of a bunch of pigment ink pads that I never use anymore. I have a hard time getting rid of any stamps, I think I've only parted with one in the last 30 years! I've posted the "after" pics on WOYWW. I got rid of so many storage bins, trays and baskets, as well as 2 giant bags of things to go to the thrift shop, I never realized I had so much stuff I didn't need! I'm sure you are going through that as well. Stay well, don't do too much at a time, keep your back safe. It's not a marathon as they say! It took me a full month to do mine. Have a wonderful week, Lindart #14
