Jeudi Journal a Day Late - Woodland

Because of Wendy being up to her eyeballs in stuff I decided that if she did not upload yesterday then I wouldn't either.  We can upload as usual together some time soon.

Luckily Aimslee chose 'Anything Goes' for her theme at Art Journal Journey this month and so it meant I could use a page in a different journal and one which I haven't uploaded before.  I am giving you a page in my Lavinia Journal where I use only Lavinia stamps.

This was an online class I did with Jo Rice and was all about perspective.  The first one I did was on a sheet of card but as I wanted to practice I did it again in my journal.  Unfortunately the colours (Pan Pastels) came out much brighter (and brasher) on the rag paper of the journal than on the cardstock used for the original one and you can hardly see the moon in the top right hand corner.  I found that the ink (I used Elements Dark Denim on the edges) also did not move quite as well as it did on cardstock.

So not only did I learn about perspective but I also learned that materials react differently to the types of card/paper we use.

No story this week, it's rather a quiet morning in the woods today.

Hi Neet, I like your quiet morning in the woods. The class sounds like fun, I have some pan pastels but they are too messy for me and they can be tricksy, can't they. Thanks for your visit, yes I am still on crutches (7 months now) I don't even know what to say about that any more lol. Have a lovely weekend!

I think you were smart giving Wendy a break while she moved. Plus we got to see some other art from you-which is great. Never mind this page is very cool also. I definitely feel like I'm in the woods and the ray of sunlight is making its way right ahead of me. Beautiful Lavinia stamping Neet. Thanks for sharing this with us at AJJ for Aimeslee's challenge, and have a great weekend ahead also. hugs-Erika

Glad you're enjoying a good, quiet morning! Love your piece. Colours react very differently on various substrates. Have a great weekend, hugs, Valerie

What a beautiful forest scene you created and I love the shading around the edges that frames it 😊. It looks like you had fun at your online class, a great way to get creative. Wishing you a Happy September! Hugs, Jo x

I found fluid acrylics act very differently on watercolor paper than on cardstock. I suspect pan pastels do, too. I have a ton of pan pastels and never use them because they need a fixative and I am always running my arm on them before that. I actually like this and we both learned something. It’s a charming entry and perfect for Aimeslee’s theme at AJJ.

I missed your story, Neet, but such is life! Isn't it amazing how much the material we work on affects the outcomes, even when using the same mediums!!

Hi Neet! I'm so happy that you decided to share this page with us at AJJ, thank you! I hear you, Lavinia inks were made for coated card, I've always heard. And I suspect Pan Pastels also move better. I know Donna Downey used a gesso'd wc paper when she went through her PP phase. That said, this is still quite a lovely scene and I wouldn't have known any of your problems by look had you not mentioned them. You deserve a kudos for practicing again! I usually am one and done, lol. I hope you decide to be a loner again so we will see more this month but if not thanks for this one! xoxo

This is a lovely peaceful woodland scene Neet. I used Pan Pastels a while ago on my gelliplate, but that's all. The colours you used are beautiful.
I have got started on my daughter's wedding crochet, 4 places mats made so far. I will do a blog post soon.
I hope you're having a good week.
Hugs,
Alison xx
