WOYWW 736

These Wednesdays come around awfully quickly at the moment.  It seems not long ago we were rejoicing that Spring was with us, then that Summer had begun and now we are on the other side of this lovely warm season.  I say that tongue in cheek as it has been raining steadily most of the afternoon and early evening.  So glad we are not having temperatures like Arizona though (111 - 113 apparently).  Phew!

Well, Saturday saw me teaching a class at our local Stamp Club.  The tutor pulled out at the last minute, quite by chance I saw her comment under a message saying she would not be able to come.  Panic!  So as Chair this year I had to think on my feet and luckily I had my class for next month partially ready so was able to step in.  More photos next week as I have not got around to taking them as yet, but here are two that I took along as finished samples.  We were decorating these tiny 3" tins.

I can show you the birthday card I made for my friend as it is her birthday today "Happy Birthday Ann".

Now, having shown you my 'makes' I think it is about time I showed you my desk.  The aftermath of my teaching session (ie nothing put away) but a picture of three of my latest stamps, done whilst stamping the ones I had bought from Lavinia's new collection.  I just love these owls but I do wish they were a wee bit smaller.

Most things are self explanatory to most of you.  The tin with thme clear top contains lots of little bits and pieces for the ladies to include on their work for next month.  The punches have been lined up for ages - again for next month but the corner rounder was for this month so can be put away now.

That's it for this week, It is late Tuesday evening when I am typing this as we have been running late all day.  Should have had new patio doors fitted yesterday morning so we were up, breakfasted, showered and things moved (mainly down to Chas), before 9 am which is when they should have called.  By lunchtime we rang up to be told the fitter had rung in sick but nobody had told the woman to ring us.  Was I cross!!!  Unfortunately she had a strong Scottish accent and I found it difficult to understand her.

Anyway, finally tonight after waiting all day for someone to come it was just after 7 pm two guys arrived and put the new doors in.  So I cannot see me getting up early in the morning and writing my blog.  Thank goodness these two were conscientious and wanted to do a good job - they had started at 6 am.  And one was celebrating his birthday!  How I wish I had made a cake!

the tins look great, good thing you had the plans ready for the class so you could step in. Shame about the mix up with the patio doors but at least you have them fitted now. Happy WOYWW Helen #4

Lovely things you made, Neet. Are those stamped and colored pieces over a mint tin? That's a lovely birthday card, too.

I see the lovely owls and agree they are rather large, but will be great on cards. I see punches and a pink Crop-a-dile, but what is the Crop-a-dile looking tool with the turquoise handle? Inquiring minds and all. Happy WOYWW from # 2.

My goodness what a whirlwind of stress!!! Good job you had a class in hand to be able to step in for your stamp club. And no wonder you were furious when the patio people hadn't called to let you know the guy wasn't going to turn up. Glad that it did get fitted that day though. Lets hope it's a quieter week for you now lol xxxxx

What a loooooong day, Neet - but so glad to hear that your doors were duly fitted. What great workers to go to those lengths.
Loving your tins - they look amazing, and that card is exquisite

I always love your makes. I sometimes decorate tins to put little presents in. How annoying that the firm didn't call you, but glad it got finished eventually, Have a great week, hugs, Valerie
And well done for taking over the lesson at the stamp club!

Well done for taking on the class at the last minute, what a good job you had something lined up! The tins are fab, I hope the class enjoyed making them. Love the card as well but then anything with a hare gets my vote, lol! The owls do seem rather large don’t they? Is there any way you could scan them and resize digitally?
And hooray for having decent workmen who fitted the new doors quickly and efficiently, it’s a shame that the previous day had caused grief. If I have to deal with a difficult accent on the phone these days, I say that I’m hard of hearing so I’ll probably have to ask them to repeat stuff frequently!

You were entitled to be cross. If a fitter rings in sick, it's only common sense that someone has to ring the customers he was scheduled to visit. Argh. And also, a comment on a post to say she can't teach that night isn't exactly letting everyone know either..what if you hadn't seen it! Blimey Neet, you're winding me up on your behalf! In a calmer manner...I love the tins, always a place and use for such a thing, especially when beautifully decorated, want a fab class. I like the owls too; I can see why you would like them smaller, but they are grand to me..allows for white space and not much else...good card making for me!

It is so frustrating when people don’t turn up and don’t tell you. Glad the patio doors are fixed now. Well done for stepping in, great that you had a class ready to go. Love those Owls. Happy WOYWW. Angela #11

Hi Neet, saw your question. The paint that I used for the Gel print was some old Dylusions Blendable Acrylics that used to be in those round flat tubs but they do still sell the same colours in the new containers. The colours were: Post Box red, lemon zest, crushed Grape mixed this with white Linen, a little Cut Grass, Bubble Gum Pink also added white to some of this, little bit of Squeezed Orange. Hope that answers your question. Hugs Angela x9x

Such cute little tins, I've set aside some to inspire what I will use to recycle mine. When I posted I closed windows (first time leaving open so long as there was no high winds and so refreshing) well we had a great rain and now an updated forecast for storms all day today..........................high winds, hail not what we need at all. So he went out to tend to baby calves they need to be in the barn. I also love that Rabbit, I have that rubber stamp and love Lavinia's pieces. ENJOY a great week.

Agree Neet re owls and stamps, things are either too small or too big very often. It's then when Digi are handy.. very cute though.

It's a good thing you can think on your feet because otherwise that sounds like it would be time for a major panic attack. Decorating those tins sounds like a lot of fun. And yours are so lovely. This sounds like it was a fun class, and I haven't done anything like this for a very long time. WE're in the heat and humidity here, and lots of rain too. Hope the rest of your week is going well. hugs-Erika
