WOYWW 718

Happy Wednesday. 'cos it's WOYWW day and we all meet up again to have a nosey at one another's desks.

I must first of all apologise as I have not had chance to do the video of my calendar.  It's finished actually but because I went to the Clockwork Carnival event at Lavinia's on Sunday I've not had time to do the video.  I spent so much money that it took me most of Monday to catalogue them.  Dare I show you my desk?

This was it on Sunday evening when I got home and just literally dumped my bags, tipping them out on my desk

and later - like Monday

Yes, it looks staged
and it is ... but it's not!  The stamps and things have all been sorted into categories and the only staged bit is my hat.  I had to show it to you.  We were invited to dress up in Steampunk or Fantasy Gear.  Well, I had this hat I made a few years ago for something else and the necklace and bracelet too.  I knew I had a jacket somewhere (bought years and years ago when "Military" was in fashion - so you can tell how long I have had it) and a blouse that I had worn previously.  Well, couldn't find the blouse but the jacket still just about fit, sadly my trousers would not do, so I dug out my long(ish) black skirt that I wear for funerals and I was ready.

This is me with Jo Rice

My friend, Jayne, wanted a photo of the two of us together.  My hat is too big and now my hair is short it was sitting on the tops of my ears.  Jo was sensible and she had put a wig on to keep it up a bit for her.  isn't her costume fantastic!

So that was it.  My desk remains like that as I was at the chiropractor yesterday and so it was an afternoon of rest so that I didn't undo all the work she had put into my neck and back.  So you see, I am not cheating showing you a desk from a couple of days ago.  I just need to get all the stamps put away now and get on with some stamping as we saw some fabulous demo's and lots of ideas of how to use the new Clockwork Collection.  No, I didn't buy them all, but now I just wish I had bought the goggles.  There's always one you don't get that you find you want.

See you all next week and hopefully will have the video done and uploaded.  Toodle Pip!

ps been a bit teary today as I found out my friend went into a dementia home at weekend so I won't be able to go for a few weeks as I don't want to unsettle her.  I worry that with the break away she might not know me next time.  I do miss her.  What a horrible disease it is.

You look fabulous in your steampunk outfit. Looks like it was a brilliant and exciting day, especially if you spent all your money. From what I can see in the photo, there's some wonderful designs. I'm sure the goggles will be in your stash one day. Hope the chiropractor's good work is lasting after you rested. Sorry to hear about your friend, it is sad watching them "go". Sending hugs xxxx

I am loving all your beautiful stash - I can never resist Lavinia stamps (think I might have said that before!). The photo of you and your friend is fab - you both certainly look the part and it sounds like a very fun day. I am sorry to hear about your friend with dementia - it's such a terrible illness - I hope you manage to find some little connections with her when you visit.
Hope you have a good week and I'm looking forward to seeing your creations with the new stash,

I’m truly sorry to hear about your friend Neet, it’s weird what dementia patients remember so you may be a familiar face when you visit. Sending hugs to you , it’s a sad thing to watch. I’m so pleased you had a riot at the Lavinia Stamps event, you looked amazing! I do love a steampunk outfit and you rocked it. That’s an impressive haul of stash and do I spy a couple of hares there, lol?!
Take care, hope your back and neck are better,

I was going to start by saying how lucky you are to be able to go to these shows and classes, but then I read further down in your post and saw that super photo. you look amazing in your steampunk outfit Neet. That hat is fabulous. And so sorry to hear about your friend. Dementia is horrible, isn't it? It's sad we all know people with that issue, and maybe we all know too many people with dementia. I hope otherwise life is going well. hugs-Erika

Oh Neet, I’m so sorry to read of your friend. I know that a lot of homes advise a settling in period, but a few weeks seems very harsh. We didn’t do it with Mum, against advice and a little bit of esistance, for exactly the reason that worries you, but I guess you have to follow the family wishes. Just for your info though, I don’t think it made a scrap of difference, it was hard to leave her because she always thought she was coming with us, but as soon as we were out of sight, she was fine.
You looked fab for your day at Lavinia, and what a fabulous bunch of goodies you’ve brought, I hope you have a great deal of pleasure from using them.

Demence is a terrible illness. A friend of mine died a couple of years back, she went down hill very rapidl and it was so sad to see it. But on a lighter note, I LOVE your hat, and you look great in your outfit! I'm home from the clinic now, came home today, so that's good. Take care of yourself, hugs, Valerie

So sad about your friend, dementia is such a cruel disease on both family and patient. I love your Steampunk hat! I spent most of today in bed, I seem to get head colds, bunged up, sore eyes and headaches. Though I have cough too. I can’t remember the last time I had a cold so I have been lucky to get away with it. So exciting to have new Lavinia stamps. Happy WOYWW. Angela . #14
