Art Journal Journey - Types of Cocktails

When I was in college learning to type I always enjoyed using different fonts and changing the sizes of lettering.  Display work was always a favourite thing for me to do and I took great delight in making the most of things like advertisements and menus.

Years later when I began teaching Commerce one of the Units I had to teach was Advertising and I just loved when it came around to that time of the year when I had to deal with that subject.  Powerpoint was a favourite program of mine and I enjoyed using it to do presentations but still enjoyed my typing on both a typewriter and a computer.  Later I found the ability to use Powerpoint a good tool for talking to parents at school about Options, Work Experience and Career Prospects which was part of my additional teaching post at school.

So when I chose 'Type' as my theme for Art Journal Journey I knew I had to include some display work.  Now not really being much of an alcoholic drinker, except the occasional gin and tonic, and I do mean occasional, I thought about looking at some cocktails.  So here is my page dealing with them:

The pink drink on the right was on a card, along with the word "cocktails" that a friend of mine sent to me.  I did like the way she had done the card so it always stood in my craft room, little did I know months ago that it would be useful in my Journal.  Now I have no fear of losing it and remembering the card that Heather sent to me.  The other images are from a set of stamps that another friend, Jayne, loaned to me for the purpose of this page.

I must confess the only cocktail I have had is a Margarita and that was when I was first introduced to Mexican Cuisine by my late friend in America.  I had heard of a Bellini, in fact I went into Harry's Bar where they were made famous in Venice, but only had a coffee early one morning.

I had to look up the ingredients of all of these cocktails but enjoyed myself changing the fonts and using the 'centre' command.

I hope this has given you another idea of how you can do the theme of 'type' and enter into the challenge over on Art Journal Journey.  I'd love to see you there.

Fabulous page, some great ideas there. And nice to learn more about you. I don't drink any alcohol but cocktails always look so pretty. I used to work a lot with Powerpoint when I was teaching, too. Have a great, new week, and thanks for another wonderful page at AJJ. Hugs, Valerie

I always enjoy your fictional stories and I enjoyed this one about you, about typing and Powerpoint and fonts. I think you used Powerpoint in a more imaginative way than the long business Powerpoints I had to sit (sleep) through.
I think it must have taken quite some time to create these cocktail descriptions with a different font for each, finding the fonts and placing the words neatly. You are certainly rocking your own theme.

Such a beautiful page! What's good be better than a nice refreshing cocktail, I'll take the Sea Breeze please 😀. It's a lovely way to keep your lovely card from your friend safe and sound and I love journal pages like these as it will bring back such happy memories too. Wishing you a wonderful new week! I like your cocktails page. I am only an occasional drinker too (more a social drinker if out and about), and the world of cocktails are always so interesting to see on a menu or have someone suggest. There are so many I have never heard of, that's for sure. And some fun names and interesting looks to some of them also. I love your advertising layout and all the pieces you used. This would be a nice introduction to a menu so people could know a little more what they are paying for. This is another fun page for AJJ. What a great month so far. Happy start to the new week. hugs-Erika

Deciding on fonts and type sizes for any computerized document can be quite enjoyable. There are SO many choices. I’m only a social drinker which is rare anyway, but my choice is always a margarita. Especially if it comes in a blue tinted glass that turns the drink a lovely shade of light lime. Saving the card you received in this way in your journal, is a fun idea. I love the diagram of the pink drink! You’ve got me wanting to go out and be social now!

An inviting fantastic page Neet for your AJJ theme I liked the recipe choices and the look of those cocktails I often wonder if folk are tempted by the look or the contents of the drink they choose.

Very fun page. The drink images are pretty (especially the one off your card from your friend) and all the recipes are fun. Love the different fonts you used and the arrangement of them. Cool to read more about your life as well. TFS and inspiring us, Neet.

Great way to display different fonts. I love this. I enjoy trying whichever new cocktail has taken my son's fancy when I visit, lol, though he does have a tendency to overdo the alcohol. Brilliant.

What a great and different journal page, dear friend. Please tell me you didn't fussy cut all those cocktails. If you did, you are a genius with scissors. Love the differe

OMGoodness. I hit a key and my comment published. I'll try to remember where I was. I've never heard of Espresso Martini, but I would drink it, I think if you left out the vodka. I've also never heard of Bellini or Sea Breeze, but I have heard of all the others. I'm not a drinker, except for coffee, so most of these would never interest me. I love all the different fonts you chose, too. They are simply perfect for your theme at Art Journal Journey, dear.

I don't think I have ever had a cocktail but it was fun looking at these Neet! You reminded me of Powerpoint -something I used to use in school. A brilliant idea for your theme at AJJ! Hugs, Chrisx
