Morning! Another week, another Wednesday, another WOYWW where you meet up with all of your blogging friends. AND another week closer to Christmas! Only nine days to go and I still haven't made my Christmas cake. Blame it on Asda - we have a delivery with them (isolating means we do not go to the shops) and each fortnight I order glacé cherries and they do not have them. Fingers crossed they have them tomorrow in our order. Fruit got soaking a couple of days ago so come the cherries and it will be in the oven. No cherries means I finally give up and its a fruit cake but it's not a Christmas one without cherries, for me.
Hopefully all my Christmas cards are out now, the tree is up and I had my Christmas top up at the chiropractors on Tuesday. Got a bit of shopping to show you - these are my latest buys:
Three pads of 8x8 papers, as if I needed them - but they are gorgeous; some Alice in Wonderland stuff, another set of Petite Dolls, some metal tags and a couple of £1 stamps to make up the amount so I didn't have to pay postage. (The last three items came from Susan at Country View Crafts - you only have to spend £7.50 to get free postage and she has had a great sale on - not advertising, just enabling).
I have a workshop every afternoon from 4 pm starting today and going through to Sunday. There was a lot of prep and that will be on my desk later today. I was hoping to have it all on for this blogpost but I still have things to do so most of it is on my trolley at the moment. Hope to be able to show you next week what I made. Another book - looks interesting so I could not resist.
Well, I had a weepy session the other day because look what came through the mail to me - a complete and utter surprise:
Someone sent me a "Hug in a Box". I won't say who as I don't know whether she wants me to disclose her name or not but wasn't that a wonderful thought. Made my day - my week. And certainly got me thinking. I am saving the hot chocolate and marshmallows for Christmas Eve and I will have the face pack that morning before I have my shower whilst having the Starbucks coffee with the Kit Kat (well, I might share it with my other half). In case you are wondering what is in the tiny box at the back - they are Positivity Cards which I can pick out and read at my leisure or really when I need a bit of positivity.
So I decided to "pay it forward" and make up a craft box for someone who has been ill but I don't want to say too much as someone connected might read this. But I did get another opportunity when a friend, who I miss because I see very little of her, rang the other day. She is going through a bit of a rough time at the moment so I put a little box of things I could find (new, not used or gifted) together to make a present for each member of her family. Then popped a tin of biscuits in, (we can order another for ourselves), a bottle of wine and a big bar of chocolate. We took it to her house and dropped it on the doorstep with a note saying Father Christmas had sent Elvis the elf with it. I hope she enjoys it when they open it on Christmas Day. As for me - it made me think an awful lot more about the real meaning of Christmas. And it all started with "A Hug in a Box".
All the Best to all of you.

what a lovely gift, and the PIF too - how very kind. I have been trying not to look too much at cVC I really don't need more stuff (not that that usually stops me!) Take care and happy WOYWW Helen #?
What a lovely selection of goodies you bought, love those paper pads. And how thoughtful of your friend to send a hug in a box. And indeed so are you, passing it forward. Hope your cherries arrive today. Thank you for your card, Nick & I love it. Sending hugs P xxxxx
What a lovely idea! A hug in a box, in these days of social distancing, sounds just the thing. Looking forward to seeing the book -I am a total sucker for a handmade book!
Happy too close to Christmas WOYWW!

What a lovely idea Neet...and it certainly is what Christmas should be about. I hope you enjoy your workshops.

The Hug in a Box was such a thoughtful and lovely thing to receive, no wonder it made you teary - I think you did a lovely thing wanting to PiF as your friend will enjoy her treat so much as well, it’s a win0win situation! Nice new stash there, why am I not surprised that you ended up with Alice in Wonderland paper, lol!!
Keep safe and warm and I hope your cherries arrive!! (That sounds so wrong.....)
Hugs LLJ 7 xxx
I think the idea of a "hug in a box" is brilliant, especially in these days when we aren't allowed to have real ones any more. (However, our lovely window cleaner did give me a hug on Monday - he's a dear and recently lost his beloved wife and business partner to cancer.) Thank you for visiting - so glad you enjoy the kitties even when asleep - which they seem to be a lot of the time at the moment! I was fascinated by your insights into American shopping and cooking. Most interesting!
Happy WOYWW,

Hi Neet. I just love the idea of a Hug in a Box! A beautiful, teary gift to receive - and then to pass on with things for your friends. Beautiful!! Enjoy your latest workshop, and I trust your Christmas cake includes cherries!!!
Take care. God bless.

I love the idea of a hug in a box. That's a nice marketing idea, isn't it? And I hope you get your cake made. So much to do, so little time. Smile. Happy Wednesday Neet! Hugs-Erika
Hi Neet, what a fab idea the 'hug in a box' is, and how lovely you could pif! It really is what the spirit of Christmas should be about. Those paper pads do look gorgeous, I really need to use more of the ones I have. They've been in my stash for far too long. Stay safe, have a lovely week, hugs, Shaz #6 X
As soon as I saw the pads I knew where they were from as I've got some from there myself though I don't know when I'll use them but they are just so gorgeous and different. It's the same place that I got the Lucky Dip Clearance box. The surprise gift was so kind and it's a great idea if you know someone who might be alone or not feeling so good. Hope you get your cherries! Wishing you a very creative and happy woyww Angela x12x
What a lovely blog post - I love the Hug in a Box, that is such a wonderful idea and no wonder you got teary - however it was so lovely that you wanted to pif and give your friend some pleasure too. It really sums up the true meaning of Christmas.
It would have been lovely to have a little chat with you at the Zoom, in fact I don't think I spoke directly to anyone except Jan (when I commented on her everchanging head dress!).
I'm glad you have had your Chiropractor session, I hope it sees you through Christmas and I hope you get your cherries soon! Enjoy your workshop sessions, I'm looking forward to seeing some of what you get up to!

What a nice gesture the "Hug in a Box" is - and also lovely that you're paying it forward to spread the joy. I have those grungy patine papers too, but I bought them from the CraftBox, I thought it was their own design, but apparently not. I find it very disappointing when things are not available that you ordered - still, it's nice to have online deliveries, but why don't they just take things off the website, so you're not expecting them. I hope you get your cherries this week - if not, you can always try ordering them from somewhere else, Amazon perhaps? They do have them - I've just checked! Happy #602! zsuzsa #27
How nice to get a Hug in a box and then turn around and pay it forward! that's what the season is all about :) Looks like you have a nice new stash of creative inspiration to play with too. I hope your cherries are delivered and you can enjoy your fruitcake! With love ~ Karen #32
Absolutely love everything about your post this week. What a gorgeous hug in a box and lovely PIF. I bet your friends will be delighted. Happy WOYWW. Take care and stay safe. With love & God Bless, Caro xxx (#13)
Neet, your goody stash looks so invitingly crafty!!! LOL I really like the "skull" crafty! Is it a die cut? It's awesome!! And, I love more and more Lavinia stamps and stencils...I MUST add some to my own stash :) Can I just say the "Hug in a Box" idea is so superb! What a blessing to you and now you can bless another! After all, as you say, that is what Christmas is supposed to be about!! How completely magical of Father Christmas! :) Merry Christmas to you and many blessings, Felicia #31
Your papers are gorgeous! Love the TH items, too!
WOW! What a wonderful Hug Box!
I am glad that you are getting your Christmas Cake done! I like fruit cake but only if it is homemade.
It is nice that you are paying the kindness forward!
Have a fabulous week!

That's a lovely thoughtful box you received Neet and the box you put together and left of the doorstep. I sent my BF a little something extra this year as she has been going through a dreadful time. Small tokens can be the biggest of gifts, knowing someone is thinking of you is a very special thing.
I hope Asda will be as thoughtful and bring your cherries asap.
Happy WoywW HUgs Tracey enjoy those workshops xx
I just love that your gift inspired you to PIF - I'm a great believer in that myself. (Gosh that's just reminded me of the film, that was a tear jerker I recall, why is that never on the telly). I do hope your cherries arrive with your order, would hate you to be without a 'proper' Christmas cake!! I have been checking at CVC every day but so far haven't seen anything I MUST have. I think I must be sickening for something........but I did buy the book Shaz suggested, maybe that'll be my fix this week!! Have a good week, stay well, stay safe, Cindy #26xx
Hi Neet, I do hope Asda deliver your cherries tomorrow, and you can finally make your Christmas cake. The Hug in a Box is so special - doesn't really matter about the contents - it just matters that someone was thinking about you, and I'm sure the crafting goodies will be much appreciated as your PIF. It's given me the idea of a Baby Hug in a Box - if I end up making a mountain of baby blankets, that I could drop off at our local hospital to give to new mums. Hmm - we shall see! Have a lovely week, and enjoy your workshops. I got a new camera/microphone for my PC so next Zoom session I'll have to try it out! Take care hugs Heather xx #30
What a fabulous gift and a great PIF idea too Neet. Hope the glace cherries arrive for the cake. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #3
Hi Neet - what a fabulous surprise, and how wonderful that you chose to 'pay it forward'!
I do hope you enjoy your classes and manage to fully participate.
I am finally moved and sort of unpacked!! I have my desk up, but very little craft 'stuff' unpacked!
Stay safe
Blessings
Maxine
Hi Neet, what a lovely idea, a “hug in a box”. Your shopping looks interesting, I am collecting for an Alice in Wonderland book at the moment. I was hoping to do a couple of designs to print out. I bought some tiny metal Alice in Wonderland rabbits from Amazon. I have the Stamperia paper pack. Are you an Alice in Wonderland fan? Have a great week Angela #5
What a lovely gift and so thoughtful. It would make me cry as well, Hope the cherries arrive today
Take care and stay safe,

Oh my gosh - what a sweet post. Love the idea of hug in a box and love the idea of leaving a present on someone's door step like that. Even love the stuff you bought yourself. Wonderful ideas here! Hugz
Ah Neet - what a lovely idea the "hug in a box" is and so like you to make a PIF one - you little elf! xxx Jo
Aw Neet, a hug in a box, you so deserve it. How like you to pay it forward so swiftly and generously. Your gifted will love it. I’m sorry I’m late again , I’m not coping well with all the distractive chores I need to get done before Christmas. Although why I’ve set that as a deadline for some of them is a mystery that would probably take a psychiatrist to work out! Those paper pads are gorgeous, you did need them, honest! Hope your workshops are going well, sorry I had to miss out on a chat this week, will muscle in on the next one! Xxxx
Love your "hug in a box" such a thoughtful gift, kindness really does go a long way andit really does capture the meaning of Christmas beautifully too ❤️. So nice to "pay it forward" too- you're a star! Nice to see all those fabulous crafting goodies on your desk too, enjoy! Happy wishes! Hugs, Jo x
Ohoo! a hug in a box, what a lovely idea and surprise! Your classes sound very interesting, I hope you enjoy them-but seeing I'm late you probably have had a great time! So, I'll say, Happy WOYWW!? Stay Safe, ((Lyn))#24
