WOYWW 593

I realised last week I had not shown you the tag I had done for a "Male" swap on the group I used to attend (we are virtual at the moment as we cannot meet up with the pandemic) so I went on the group and copied it - you can see it below.  I did make another one but I forgot to take a scan of that one.

My desk today is a bit different to what I normally show you.  This time I am working on the table, spreading out on the worktop and the bed in the small bedroom.  That's because I am at the caravan again.  My back has been so bad that we decided to come up here, whilst we can (Covid may shut down travel out of the area at home soon) to see if the mattress up here would make a difference.  We actually leave for home later today but it has been a nice few days and the weather has not been too bad at all.

I brought my Janet Klein figures up so I could get more done on the book - not sure if all the pages will make it into one book now as there are 20 pages and it might be too many.  We will see.  So that is what I have been working on and I was using the roll of Washi Tape I won in a random draw from Abs at AALL&Create via one of Tracy's workshops - or was it a Live?  Well here is my desk (I won't show you the kitchen top or the small bedroom - you will get the idea from this.)

Sorry it is a bit confusing because I have put some vinyl on the table to protect it whilst I work on my card.  You can see an old set of pastels on the left (I had four of these, all different colours but gave three of them away - silly woman) and just peeking out is the pile of my Janet Klein's pages with one I am working on in the foreground.  That is a white Brilliance pad, a brush that I bought several of and never used, my small scissors, the washi tape and a crumpled paper towel.

When we first arrived up here I noticed something stark white on the grass and thought the owners had put something down to stop people driving onto the grass and spoiling it.  On closer inspection there were three mushrooms/toadstools (What is the difference - even the internet does not tell me?). Have we any fungi's out there (get it?  Fun Guys - Sorry).  Well, here is a photo of the two larger ones.

I thought they were really rather pretty.  Two days later I was surprised to find that all that was left were the stalks!  The 'shrooms' had disappeared!  Had something eaten them or is this what happens?  The stalks were there still stood upright with a kind of dark coloured disc on them but the actual 'umbrella' tops were gone.  Do any of you know anything about them?  If they had been eaten or stood on then why were the stalks still there upright?

In my search for information and identification of these 'shrooms' I saw lots of pretty ones, lovely colours and some very delicate and lace like cascades down them.  It really is a fascinating topic when you start to look at them.

Guess I had better call it a day and get this baby put to bed by linking up to Julia and her long standing blog hop - gosh 593 weeks of blogging what is on your workdesk is really going some.  So if you want to join in or just have a nosey at what others have on their desks pop along here and see.

Hi Neet your fungi is called Shaggy mane. It’s a type of ink cap and we have one like it here, they go after few days.
Lovely tag well done and great crafty desk glad you were able to get away for a few days.
Happy WOYWW.
Thanks for sharing, and God bless, Shaz in Oz.x #6

Glad you are having a few days away. The fungi are shaggy ink caps. When they are fresh they are edible - but I haven't tried them - and they very quickly turn inky blue- brown and disintegrate. In the way off past they were sometimes used to make ink! Have a great day, hugs, Valerie

Wow those look wonderful. Nick & I have been on Shroom hunts recently and photographing them. Have never come across something like the ones you saw. Im no expert but my guess is that they are shaggy ink caps. Especially as they do dissolve once they've deposited their spores. Hope your trip has done your back some good. P xxxx

Hope you were able to get some back relief while you were away Neet - and what a fascinating 'shroom! Your 'desk' looks busy and productive.
Stay safe

I have always loved that image. Such a snooty looking gent, to my eye. But dear me! that mushroom is...bizarre. I read above they might be edible, but I am not sure, barring food shortages during a zombie apocalypse, that I would be willing to give them a go. LOL!

Happy WOYWW!

Well, ask a desker, there’s some knowledge out there! Fascinating shrooms and fascinating that they disintegrate after a few days, I wonder why? Fungi are generally an interesting thing aren't they, and as you say, can be so delicate. I hope the caravan mattress was a little helpful for you, its so wearing for you to be in such constant pain. I wish I could do something for you.

I've had a busy morning...been to the hospital for blood tests, back for a late breakfast and then had to shorten 3 the 3 nurses dresses and a pair of jeans before I could start my blog visits...so here I am a little late today.
So glad you've had a few days away...I hope the change of bed helped the back. Love the fungi.
Stay safe and well.
Hugs,

Your tag is fabulous, and I love the vinyl covering on your table, what a great design. Sorry to hear your back has been so bad, I hope the change of bed helped. Never seen fungi like those before but they are quite spectacular aren't they - if they've been eaten it could be slugs - I often see them on fungus in the Forest.
Hope you have a good week,

Hi Neet, hope the few days away helped your back.Love the fungi pics, as you say, they are so pretty.I'd guess the tops rot fairly quickly, then probably get finished off by slugs & snails! Seeing your pic reminds me I have some of those pastel sets, not used them for ages.Stay safe, Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #7 X

Hi Neet. It has taken me all morning to pick up my click and collect order, so I am really late (for me) starting to work down the list - sorry! Do trust the caravan mattress was a help for your back. Nice to have a few days away. You sound like you have managed to be busy whilst there, anyway. Love the fungi pics - what fascinating ones they are.
Take care. God bless.

Hello Neet, how lovely to get a change of scene - I hope the different mattress did help? Those little figures are so cute, maybe you will have to make two books if there are too many! The mushroom photos are quite amazing - you and Helen could start a collaboration!! Hoping you feel better soon, Happy Wednesday, stay well, stay safe, Cindy #21

Love the male tag, Neet, and that fungus is fascinating. When I was young I used to know the names of them all, and the wild flowers, from all the nature walks we used to go on, but I've forgotten a lot these days! I am so sorry to hear how much you are suffering with your back, and I do hope that the bed in the caravan is better than your home one. What a drag this all is for you.

Thank you for your visit and your very kind words! The first recipient certainly understood how much work was involved. She is a sewer (dressmaking) and she really appreciated all the work - she said she was expecting something simple that I'd just be able to run up in a day or two and had no idea I was going to do all that! The carpets connection really resonated with her and she so appreciated that, which was lovely. The other recipient, who is getting hers on Sunday, is a great knitter, and I think she's done some sewing too, and she definitely knows how long things take. Her husband has dementia and she is struggling with him at home and I think this little gift will give her a bit of a lift.

Thank you also for what you said about my outfit this week! A few years ago I picked up those tops on two different market stalls, really cheap. Do post some photos of yourself, especially with the coloured tights!! I like leggings and socks best, and have a drawer full of gorgeous mohair Corrymoor socks in all colours.

It's a funny thing about my hair. For several years I'd noticed my hair was getting thinner, and the plait was tapering down towards the end. I've got a photo of me taken back view on holiday back in about 1980 and it was really thick all the way down (quite a bit longer then, too), so I put it down to hair thinning with age. Then, for the past months when we've been eating whole-food plant-based, it has got really thick again and no longer tapers! That was an unexpected benefit, and it shows that something really good is going on inside my body, not just the weight loss! (Unfortunately it has not caused my hubby's bald pate to start sprouting, though lol!! - not that I worry about that because I love his head as it is!)

I'm glad you enjoyed seeing the kitties, including the little mini-video of them. I swear they are almost human at times, the way they behave!!

Take care of yourself and I hope you get some relief soon from all that awful pain.

Happy WOYWW,
Shoshi x #17

Hi Neet, I'm so late today been in the garden until it started getting dark and now on catch up. That mushroom is really interesting. I have a book on these and I'll have a look tomorrow, see if there's anything similar. Have a lovely creative woyww, Angela x19x

Can't help with the mushrooms I am afraid Neet but they certainly are pretty. Lovely tag. Hope your back eases a little. I only kept my pearlescent pastels and got rid of the rest too. Stay safe Sarah #3

Hi Neet, found the mushroom. It's a Shaggy Ink Cap or Lawyer's wig is another name for it. Apparently the entire cap drips away from the margin as an inky fluid until all that's left is the stalk. It also says that it is edible providing it's not started to liquefy but not sure I'd risk it Lol! Hope that helps. Hugs, Angela xXx

How wonderful that you can craft away from home like this! You know, I think I still have one of those pastels from long ago too - I remember I really wanted them but I never used them. Time to dig them out! Love the your vintage-look swap card - lucky you could still get an image of it after sending it off. The mushroom looks weird but fascinating! Love your FunGuy pun LOL! Thank you for your visit Neet and your heartwarming comments! I hope you have a good weekend and your back won't bother you too much. xx zsuzsa #20
