WOYWW 586

Another week has gone by, these days are going quicker than ever.  So it is back on the merry-go-round that goes under the name of WOYWW, the merriest blog hop that has been going for years and years, brainchild of the lovely Julia who will explain it all to you here.

I did say I would show you my last batch of iCads - to the end of July - so I am a bit behind with them you might say.  This time you will see I had a bit of help from AALL & Create by using some figures from Janet Klein and some bits I did whilst creating my tag book, shown last week.

But what is on my workdesk?  Well, haven't tried any stamping yet as I am trying to not put my arm through too much but I decided to do a bit of knitting.

Yes, not exciting knitting is it?  It is simply a rectangle to make a patch for my cardigan.  you know how children have "comfort blankets" well I have a "comfort cardigan".  It all began with the bad back, I would use the cardigan so that the hot gel bottle (or water bottle), with its own cover I might add,  did not burn me.  Only trouble is it became a favourite and I wore it every time I wanted some comfort from the pain so it got a good massaging across the back.  Either from poor Chas rubbing my back or the upright heater in the bedroom doing the job.  Eventually it wore thin and came into holes.  Being the type of person I am I could not part with it  as it had done me so much service so I decided to knit a patch for it.  Not the same colour but near enough.  After all it is only worn in the house when there are only the two of us.  Now the cardigan has a new lease of life, or will have when I cast off and press it before stitching it to the holes in the back.

A friend of mine sent for some fairy accessory stamps but when they came she was disappointed as they were smaller than anticipated so she passed them on to me.  They are now awaiting me stamping them onto the pieces of paper in these folders before putting them away.

Health Update:

Last Saturday I had to take the dressing off the wound and I was not looking forward to seeing what was underneath.  The clear sticky part of the dressing was very sticky and so I had about three goes, peeling a little at a time until the whole thing came off later afternoon.  It looked awful.  Bruised and swollen it is a bit of a mangled mess but I am confident the swelling will go down and it will be as neat as the original one.

You know those stickers they put on your legs and chest?  Well I had them on my left leg and right arm and when they removed them they have come up in perfect circular bruises.  Must be because of the blood thinners I take but they don't half look funny being perfect circles.  I am looking forward to washing my hair and having a proper shower as I am only showering from the rib cage downwards at the moment - the rest is a stand up wash job.  Good job I don't suffer with greasy hair.

See you all next week.

Hi Neet, love the story of your cardigan. I have an ancient comfort cardi, too, and my neighbour said it looks disgusting, but I still love it, holes and all! Hope the bruises soon go away and that you will be able to shower properly again. Have a great day, take care, Valerie

Hope you are back to normal showering soon Neet. I am glad that you are able to patch the cardigan so it can still be a comfort to you too. Beautiful ICADs. Stay safe and happy WOYWW Sarah #4

Ah Neet, so glad its all over bar the weird bruising! I think the knitting of a patch is a great idea, I have a stay-at-home sweatshirt that’s patched in two places with an old but favourite t shirt, so I totally understand about the cardigan! It needs a long service and good conduct award! I agree with your friend, those images are a bit small, would put me off using them too! Take care, be gentle with yourself.

You sound like you've been in the wars with all your sweeling and bruises. I really hope all heals well and life can return to normal for you very soon.
Love the icards and what a great idea to patch your comfort cardigan.

Now that some fresh air will get to the wound, it'll heal really well - the circular bruises must look as if you've been stamped! And I think you're doing a lovely thing knitting the patch for your beloved cardi, giving it a bit of love and continued usefulness. Great idea! Those iCards are fab and the burnt orange reminded me of the Tracey Evans workshop.

You are so organised with your stamps, I am impressed!! You need to show us a photo of you in your comfort cardigan - funny how we get attached to things. I'm sure that now the dressing is off you'll start to heal up quickly, although I had to smile thinking of you covered in little circles... I take every opportunity to delay washing my hair as I hate drying it, it's so thick, but it's a totally different ball game when you CAN'T do it. Something to look forward to, and it will make you feel so much better. Love and gentle hugs, Have a good week, stay well, stay safe, Cindy #14

I love your Icads - they are fab, and I'm loving the hot summery colours. The stamps are adorable and I often have the opposite problem of stamps being too big, as I love working small. I know how you feel about your cardi, I have an old one that my mum made used to wear and it always comes out when I feel under the weather - it gets whipped off if someone comes to the door but I love it and would never part with it -strange how we become attached to things isn't it!
I'm so glad you are on the mend - now your sticky bits are off I'm sure the air will aid the healing process and you'll soon be a normal colour all over!!
Hope you have a good week, stay safe and well,
Hugs, Diana xx #15

You sound as though you recovery is going well, albeit slowly - we don't seem to heal as well as we age :(. Well done on 'patching' you comfort cardi - I would too
Stay safe

No being able to have a proper shower must be awful. I trust your wound will heal quickly, Neet - the first week is always the worst as it goes so slowly, but then the process speeds up - in my limited experience, anyway. Love your arty cards - they're so colourful! Wishing you a speedy recovery, the comfort cardi will help I'm sure! xx zsuzsa #20

Hi Neet, good to hear you are recovering ok. Seems to take forever as we get older, doesn't it? Great job patching the cardi, we all have our security thingy don't we? Doug calls my two favourite cardis my security blankies, lol.Smiling at the round 'bruises', I've had odd ones left on, and find they start to itch after a while.Stay safe, have a lovely week, hugs, Shaz #3 X.

Quite some issues you're dealing with but it sounds like you got it all under control... I, too, wear 'things' in the house that I wouldn't dare show to 'public' (old sweaters with paint on it, holes at the elbows etc.) and like you, I cannot part from the cloths that are the most comfy - I totally understand you knitting a patch! Happy woyww dear, big hug from Holland. Marit #18

It sounds as though recovery is progressing nicely, albeit in a multicoloured bruised way. I love the idea of patching up a comfort cardigan. I have a sloppy evening cardigan only worn at home as well. The ICADs are wonderful - so colourful. Happy WOYWW. Take care and stay safe, with love and God Bless, Caro xx (#11)

Hi Neet. I had to smile when you mentioned the cardigan. Years ago I bought a cardigan at an agricultural show, it was second hand but in good condition. I can't really say why but it became my all time favourite and I just seem to wear it all the time even though I have plenty others. I have mended bits of it several times and I would be lost without it. My mum had a problem with a wound on her leg that started to heal so they put a plaster on it and then it got worse again. They have now found that she is allergic to the glue on the plaster and the leg is getting better again. Wishing you a very happy week and a creative woyww, Angela x13x

Happy WOYWW. I only had to go 4 days without a proper shower (trying to shower with bandages and dressings on various parts of the body is not very satisfying). Hope that your comfy cardigan continues to be a comfort to you. I have one like that in my craft room. Ali x. #30

Nice knitting (need to get busy finishing the project I started last winter) and nice ICADS. I love those Janet Klein little folks and what you did with them. I think those circle bruises have to be something you smile at. If not that would just be really annoying. But sorry to hear the wound looks so nasty. Hugs-Erika

Great ICADs, very colourful. I have a comfort cardigan too!!!! It didn't start out that way but whenever I'm ill, it comes out of the wardrobe and I snuggle my sorry self into it. Hope your leg heals soon. P xxxxxxx

Lovely cards, Neet, and how nice of your friend to pass those stamps on to you - you will certainly use them, I am sure! You are a girl after my own heart as far as the cardi is concerned. I've got an ancient dark charcoal grey long M&S one that I bought in a charity shop more years ago than I can even remember, and I've crocheted around the cuffs to keep it going a bit longer! Where it's sat on the back of the bedroom chair in the sun, the back has gone a bit of a funny colour but I don't care - there's no way I'm parting with it!! I can get extremely attached to certain garments and I'm really glad I've hung onto some of them all these years even though for quite a few years in between, I wasn't able to get into them!

I am sure your wound will soon recover. I know what you mean about those extremely sticky patches/dressings. Fortunately I've got my little spray cans of adhesive remover which I use for Kermit's bags and whenever I've had to have dressings removed, I've always got it out and it works a treat. It's very gentle on the skin, because pulling stoma bags off, the skin can get quite sore if you're not careful. This spray is an essential accessory and I get it on prescription along with my other supplies.

Thank you for your visit and for your very kind words about my appearance! All mobility aids tucked well out of sight for the photos! I am feeling better these days and have a bit more energy since going whole-food plant-based - not so many bad days and can keep going for longer.

Yes, our kitties are so pretty! I'm surprised they don't get swollen headed, the amount of times we tell them. They are utterly spoilt! Such little characters, and so different from each other with their funny little ways. We've really fallen on our feet with this pair!

The errors in the embroidery do annoy me a bit, but superficially they aren't noticeable fortunately! I think I'll redraw the design though, in case I want to work it again! I'm getting on well with it and am pleased so far.

Happy belated WOYWW,
Shoshi x #8

Lovely desky share sorry I’m late... again... 😁 and great to see your work and desk, I’m totally with you in repairing your favourite jumpers too, I would. Love the last of ICADs too.
Re PanPastels and perfect pearls, Ive a really well used dirty Versamark pad and added Versamark pad over set PanPastels (set with hair spray) then added perfect pearls. If isn’t want to do that could try spray adhesive I suspect. I didn’t think of that.
Thanks for being a blessing, and may God bless you too, especially in these unusual times, a blessing to rest simply in Him! Praying you’re all kept well too!
