Jeudi Journal - Believe

This morning we are looking at a lovely quote "I Believe in Unicorns".  Thankfully I happened to have a Unicorn by Dylusions that I could use and then just create something to illustrate it.  As Erika had chosen "summer heat" as the theme for the challenge on Art Journal Journey I painted my page in a hot pink and then began choosing characters to use.

Mum has taken the kids out for a walk around the park and the little girl is being picked on by her older brother.  You know how siblings are, arguing all the time, especially older brothers who like to pick on their younger sisters - and to make matters worse it is hot hot hot and so sunny.  And all the little girl had said was that there was a unicorn hiding behind a bush.  Big brother said there were no such things and the little girl in a very teary voice said "I believe in unicorns".  Poor mum is frazzled, her hair is not quite as bouffant as she would like, her umbrella is a bit too small to shade her completely from the sun and her sunglasses are a bit too dark, she cant see what the kids are up to.  But she can see a lilac unicorn peeping from the bushes!

So there you have it, my journal page for today and my entry for Erika's challenge on Art Journal Journey.

Fabulous, love the story. I can't believe we have both used the same little girl and chosen the same head for her. And the same idea with the flowers and leaves with the unicorn popping it's head out.
Hugs Wendy xx

Oh that smiling sun and the unicorn made me smile. Mom is oblivious to that unicorn for sure. And even those plants look like hot weather flowers. This is perfect for AJJ also Neet. Don't know why but I have been favoring pink and purple lately, usually I don't, so I am loving the background color. Thanks so much for joining us at Art Journal Journey. Much appreciated. Hugs-Erika

This is a fun page and a lovely theme, great colour choice, too. Last year I saw a unicorn in the castle ruins here, where they were making a film. So having seen one trotting around here, I know they exist! And yes, big brothers are like that, mine certainly were! Your unicorn stamp is lovely, too. Have a great day, take care, hugs, Valerie

I love how you wove a story into this challenge. It was so fun to read about the mother and her woes, as well as the teary eyed daughter. At least WE can see the unicorn. Thanks for sharing this with us at Art Journal Journey using Erika's theme. I loved the tale you told, too.

Your little stories make me giggle ;-)
I love the idea of the unicorn hiding in the bushes, lol. I was a bit confused by the brollies at first, though...I thought it was just a typical northern summer scene, but no, it's a hot weather scene! I can't imagine ever needing a parasol over here.
Wonderful characters, and beautifully coloured, as usual.

It's not a quote I would associate with Dylusions at all. What a strange culture we live in. Suddenly, the whole world believes in unicorns... wonder whose idea it was? Brilliant marketing and such a great example of capitalism. Izzi has unicorns on everything.

It's a great page. I love your sun - he's just missing the hat! Oh for a bit of sunshine again... it's been like Autumn again, hasn't it?

Hope you're well, Neet and that you'll soon be able to see your chiropractor - if not already. Life is slowly returning to normal and I'm sure it will be even more so from tomorrow.
Have a great weekend!

What a gorgeous page! I can feel the summer heat from here with the hot pink and tropical flowers, I can see why the family needs those umbrellas ...lol 😀. The unicorn is perfect and I'm loving those letter that you used for the wording - beautiful! I hope that you are keeping well! We have rain here today so I'm cleaning and then spending time in my craft room - yay 😀. Take care and happy weekend! Hugs, Jo x

How dare her brother say there's no unicorn - it's as plain as day! I know just how the mother feels when it's too hot too be bothered with squabbling kids (one of many reasons I never wanted any of my own!!). Fabulous page. Sorry I've been missing so much again lately - it's a strange time.
