Jeudi Journal - Animals

This week the quote is "Life is a zoo never feed the Monkeys".   Now we know that this, kind of refers to a video voyageur simulator, where you watch strangers through surveillance cameras invading their private lives without any interaction with them.  What would happen if you fed the monkeys?  (actually I didn't but I looked it up and this is what it said)

But, no chiropractor at the moment means my back is bad so what I do craftwise is of a minimum and my page this week was painted first of all in Titanium Buff and then when it had dried I used a fairly dry brush to push some colour across, Yellow Ochre, and again when that was dry added some Burnt Sienna in the same way. I quite liked the effect of the broken lines but it needed something else so I used a stencil and put some green leaves up one side and a little across the top to give the effect of it being out of doors.  Then it got left until yesterday - when the back was bad.

Still it needed something so I used Scattered Straw DI to add some circles all over the remainder of the page but it didn't show up at all - can you see them?  So then I added some diamonds in Fossilized Amber DI just randomly across the page.  Still very faint but they are ... subtle???

Two figures came next, one a young girl in a pretty spring dress and the other a rather fierce looking Monkey in a suit with a sign over the top of his head.  And so it was finished - just added the quote and all was done.

Oops, just seen Art Journal Journey have Geometric Shapes as the theme for the new month.  Pity the circles don't show but I think Diamonds are still Geometric Shapes, aren't they?  Will try to join in Valerie's challenge with this page.

So sorry to hear about your back Neet. Hopefully life will get back to normal soon so we can all get back to our usual things. This page is a riot. I love your monkey man. He is perfect for the quote! And she is looks like she doesn't understand what is going on. Take care of your back, as well as staying safe. Hugs-Erika

I'm sorry to read about your back. I know the same pain. Wish I didn't, but mine is constant, so I sometimes can forget about it. At least you have occasional help with yours. Let's hope you can get to see your chiropractor soon. But I fear this lockdown is going to last longer than most envision.

I couldn't see the circles, even after I enlarged the page, BUT I did see the diamonds, which qualify. This is such a subtle page and rather unlike you. I like it, though. Thanks for sharing it with us using Valerie's theme at Art Journal Journey. And I'm sorry I was offline and missed some of your art last month. STAY SAFE, dear.

Fun page with a fun quote, and true! And yes, diamonds always qualify, and you have a circle with a line trough the middle, so more than enough geometric signs. Thanks for linking to AJJ, hope you back gets batter, and look after yourself! Hugs, Valerie

Subtle is fine Neet - especially when crafting in pain! A fabulous result, and I too love the stripey painted background - stripes are graphic too! Kind of :)
Stay safe

SO sorry your back is bad...but you did well to manage your page. The background is lovely. Love those diamonds, though I can't see the circles, sorry. Love the colours you used on the b/g.
The characters are a perfect illustration...and I've never heard that before about video surveillance. Definitely a new one on me.

Hope today is a better day and you get time to play a little. Pain wearies you, I know, so I hope you can find something to bring a little sunshine into your day.
God bless you and keep you safe.

Thank you for the explanation for the quote. A great interpretation of it, and we both used the same monkey, mine was nude so he was hiding behind some bushes. Hope your back improves.
Hugs Wendy xx

Its a great page Neet and yes I can see the shapes in the background as well as the monkey's colourful jacket. I wouldn't want to upset him.
Thank you for linking your art to Valerie's theme at Art Journal Journey.
Stay safe and well.

Hi Neet, Debi from California here. I have texted you a few times over the last couple of years but not sure if you are getting them. Finally am trying to make contact with you through this blog. You can go to my Facebook page to message me and let me know the best way to contact you.
And enjoy this page you made, a unique take on not feeding the monkeys.

Wow, this got me to thinking! There are so many ways you can look at the words - so many meanings. Love your fierce monkey man and the no feed sign. The bg did come out well with all your geometric shapes. YOu can see the circles if you look close and the diamonds are geo shapes. Very cool page. HOpe you get some relief with your back soon!!!
