Not much to show on the desk again this week. Did mean to show you a t-shirt I have been painting but cannot find the photograph taken earlier. Still, that will do next week maybe. In the meantime this is my desk, with a couple of Journal Pages on it:
I want to enter into the challenge on Art Journal Journey (with our very own Elizabeth (and Bleubeard) at the helm alongside Susi). The challenge is to use polka-dots, stripes, plaid, pattern or any one of these, not necessarily all of them.
Here's a complete view of my Journal which is done with magazine collage on a painty background.
The background was left over brayer paint and then I put some numbers on with a deeper ink colour through a stencil, outlined in white Posca pen. Then I stamped some circles (polka-dots?) with Sepia ink and attached my bird. Apparently he haunts Art from the heart so if you go up there one dark night you might see him flitting about and collecting leaves in readiness for his new home build.
Health Update:
Went to pain management clinic and they have given me some websites to look at prior to enrolling me on the group study (which I did not want) in October. Sounds as if they really do believe this pain will stay with me for ever.
Tried to come off the codeine myself - terrible symptoms. The worse is the restless legs and so I am having very little sleep. Will be up early in the morning or maybe I will fall asleep - time will tell. Still, there are those who are a lot worse off than me.

sorry you had another bad night... Love that journal page though. Helen #2 right behind you!!
Love the collaged bird Neet, he looks great against the background. I hope your withdrawal symptoms ease soon. Happy WOYWW. Sarah #3
Your workdesk looks pretty neat and tidy this week! Just wanted to let you know that I stopped by!
Gorgeous Neet!
Thank you for joining us over at Art Journal Journey!

I share your horror of refurb, after three weeks of bathroom upheaval, but G and I feel that we should get it over and done with in one fell swoop! We shall see, nothing's written in stone yet!
I do admire you ladies who do mixed media, I wouldn't know where to start! I love the artful abstract background (with spots!) - how do you know what to do first? The bird made me smile even though he looks a bit downhearted.
I hope that the clinic will help, constant pain is so debilitating, I'm suffering big time with my ankle at the moment, so I'm sending hugs to us both!

Your desk looks so neat and clean! I love the journal page, the colors are amazing! I'm sorry you continue to have such pain and hoping you can get some relief soon. Sending hugs and prayers! Glenda #13
I'm so sorry to hear the latest update on your pain but I remain hopeful that they will find something to improve things for you.
I love the page you've created this week.
Hugs,

Hi Neet, sorry to hear you sounding so down, but constant pain will make anyone feel awful.Love the journal page, the background is fab, surprising how often 'waste' sheets can look so good. Hoping you got some sleep, and have a better week, Love & hugs, Shaz #5 X
Hi Neet!! Love those pages. I really must get back into challenges again, been very lapse the last couple of years - don't know where the time goes. I am so sorry to hear that you are still suffering. It doesn't matter how much better off you are than other people, chronic pain is a nightmare to live with and affects every day of your life. Hoping you find some relief soon. Love n hugs, Cindy #16
Argh Neet, sleeplessness, restless legs and the pain...my heart hurts for you. Why are you trying to come off the codeine? I know we all hate to take pills and etc etc, but if they are actually helping, stay on them..the people at the Clinic would be horrified to hear that you’re increasing your pain. My problem with it al is that it seems so slow..I know they weren't going to find an instant solution, but I had hoped for more than a couple of websites for you to look at and come back in a month. So frustrating. Still, the silver lining is that if you’re on a group study, they are taking you seriously and will be trying stuff for you/on you/with you!
Meanwhile your lovely journal page - i think those qualify as polka dots...as dotty as a dot can be..no-one says they couldn’t be reverse image dots did they!
Loving your bird with his 'house' body Neet, and the lovely background is perfect for him
Hmmm, that pain management clinic was not that positive - glad to know your chiropractor is somewhat more encouraging.
Praying for good sleep for you
Blessings
Maxine
Brilliant art journal page. Love the background with the brayered colour surrounded by stamped images. Sorry to hear the pain management isn't any better xxxx
That is such a fun page Neet, and I love the stripes, dots and patterns! It was smart to make the bird using all those shapes! (And clever too) Thanks so much for joining the challenge at Art Journal Journey. And your desk is so clean. If only mine was half that clean. Hope your day is going well. Hugs-Erika
Your page is so fun, Neet - love the collaged boots - might steal that idea! So sorry that they still haven't found a solution to your problem - and then they wonder why people get addicted to pain killers! Sometimes I do get the feeling that doctors just don't know anything! There must be a cause for your pain - why don't they try to find it, instead of managing the effect? I do hope you get better soon! xx zsuzsa #18
I love the little birdie - he's so sweet and that background is fabulous - such a great way to use left over paint. I do hope you get on well with the group study, it's good that they are offering something, it's so easy to drop off their radar. Hoping you catch up on some sleep soon and have a better week,
Hugs, Diana xx #14
Sorry to hear you are still have bad nighht and the pain is still bad, Love the journal page, Happy WOYWDW

Hi Neet, your journal page is fabulous. It's interesting how many backgrounds start life as just a way to use leftover paint. My green one this week started life as a mop up from a Gelli plate print. The bird looks a fairly harmless even if he does haunt Art From The Heart. Sorry to read the Health Update - that codeine is terrible stuff - can't tolerate it myself. I have my fingers crossed that your back pain will eventually ease off and you will be able to wean yourself onto milder painkillers. Hugs, Elizabeth x #19
Oh Neet, I feel SO sorry for you. I wish the pain was lessened, but at least it seems they know it's not in your head if you are enrolled in a group study. I have a friend who has restless leg syndrome and she wakes in the night right after she gets to sleep. I hope they find the problem to your pain, dear.
I had to laugh at that bird. He looks like it sounds like you feel. Rather dejected and sad. However, he's still absolutely PERFECT for Erika's theme at Art Journal Journey. Thanks so much for sharing and for your continued support of AJJ.
I so love your journals and your work space too. I so feel for you with the pain I know you must be going through. I just had Sciatica and that was bad enough but it's manageable now. When you have pain like yours it just takes over your life and I know you kind of get used to managing it but it's still miserable at times. So I am sending you big gentle hugs and hopefully a happy woyww, Angela x10x
So sorry you are still suffering, Neet. Codeine can be a problem to get off. I get restless legs sometimes and it's very unpleasant, and not being able to sleep is awful when it's really what you need!
I was put on co-codamol for my headaches recently and they didn't even touch it... I am now on a low-dose amitriptyline which is supposed to keep them at bay - I've only been taking them for a few days so it's early days yet. I am experimenting with the timing of them because he said to take them at night as they make you drowsy. Taking them too late means I can't keep awake in the mornings!!
I love your journal page - what a funny bird - he has such a lugubrious expression! Lovely work.
Thank you for your visit, and I'm so glad you enjoyed reading about how I met my hubby. Thanks for the suggestion re the tea bags but I don't think that would work because of what I want to do with them afterwards (sorry, another tease! You'll have to wait and see lol lol!) - I've had a few interesting suggestions from other WOYWWers and over the next few days I'll have a chance to think about it even if I don't get time to try anything. I'm sure I'll get there in the end.
I haven't had a chance to try the new drawing tool yet but I think it will be quite useful, and fun to use. It seems to be beautifully made.
I've dropped my pepper pot a few times too but never in any food so far haha!! I've had it for years (not quite as long as I've had my hubby though.)
Hope you have a good week.
Happy WOYWW,
Shoshi x #17
Love the t-shirt. I hope they are able to find something to relieve your pain in the study.

Oh dear Neet, like me you can’t fund them when to share them, and it was just here a minute ago.
Love that dotty spotty mini circles background sis with all its yummy yummy layers and the character on top dies make you smile!
Dear sweet Neet don’t despair re pain clinic news, you’ve more than one treatment in your situation. God looks and sees the big picture.
We need His focus, but is easier to not do that. Praying...
Being in group study has unknown benefits I’m sure, and we will pray the multi faceted treatment you’re taking with Chiro. etc will help. Think Julia’s right re codeine, mind you I throw up with most pain killers which is really hard.
Paracetamol in small doses ok.
Happy WOYWW. Thanks for sharing, Shaz in Oz.x #20

Your drawings/paintings are wonderful. Love the fun AJJ-page.
I love your quirky bird, haunting AFTH indeed! Great background too - don't you love how leftover paint leads you on to the next bright idea?
So sorry to hear there's little progress on the pain front. Sounds like sticking with the drugs is a better plan for now.

So sorry about your pain, hopefully you can find a way to manage it.Your journal page, however, is very cute, I love the bird with the house as his body! Brilliant! Have a great week, Lindart #25
