WOYWW 534

Well here we are, another week has just flown by and I don't really have much to show you on my desk.  I have been busy putting the finishing touches to the painting of my rag book and I think (after checking and re-checking several times) all the painting is now done.  So the next thing is to get some lining (cannot remember what it is called) and start to stitch it up.  I might even show it to you before it is sewn on the machine, ie, just tacked into place.  Then again, I might even have it sewn up if I can remember how to thread my sewing machine never mind use it.  But, think that is a big "might"!

Thought I would show you what is on my real desk - my boxes of paints.  Well some of them - the acrylic ones

My desk - full view

Deco Art & Golden

All kinds

PaperArtsy

Amsterdam (small ones)

The two nappy boxes, left over from my cake icing days, are now full of paints, one with my Deco Art and Golden products in and the other with Stewart Gill, Dylon Fabric Paints, Lumieres and many, many more.

I do have some large Amsterdam tubes on my shelves but these are only repeats of some of the small ones so I just left them there, preferring to use the small tubes.  I know I have nowhere near as many PaperArtsy paints as Helen but I have promised myself I will not buy any more paints until I have used some of these up.

Why am I showing you these?  Because it is What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday again. The day when lots of us gather together and celebrate ten years of desk sharing.  We actually share a lot more than just desk sharing.  Friendships have grown and there is a lot of love and loyalty within this gigantic blog hop started by Julia here.  If you have happened here by accident and never heard of this blog hop then why not join in and make some new friends, I can promise you will get a warm welcome.  See you there?

Health Update:
As you know I went to see a chiropractor last Wednesday and I was a bit of a wreck.  Well, it was a very pleasant meeting and despite what I have heard about chiropractors she did not hurt me one bit.  She is so gentle and said she has to be extra so because of my Pacemaker etc.  She treats a baby of five months and an old man of 93 so needs to be careful with them.

After establishing my past history and the state of play up to now she more or less said I was a bit of a mess ie there is a lot wrong.  In her opinion (and that of my Chinese doctor) it is nerve pain and not muscle that I am experiencing, my nerves are twisted in my thoracic area and my rib cage is out of alignment.  Think I have that right.  Anyway, after a week of doing as much "heat/ice/rest" as I could fit in each day I went back to see her yesterday and had a second treatment.  This time it was more manipulation and she feels positive that she can help me.

I am not pain free, in fact I have felt pretty much the same but whilst doing the treatment above I have been comfortable - and I have "hope".  The biggest thing for me is that she has given me hope! Unfortunately she is on holiday for two weeks and I will not see her again until the 13th September but she is going to work out some exercises that I can do, so not to cause problems with my Pacemaker, and will send them through to me in the next day or so.  In the meantime it is "heat/ice/rest".  So I am a much happier bunny than I was.

Lots of you came up with great suggestions and you made me feel better knowing that there were other options out there that I had not thought about.  So, should this not work there are other things I will explore - I am not going to give up!  YOU made me feel so much better about myself and restored my faith.

Thank you so much, being part of WOYWW really is being part of a big family.

Morning Neet. Oh my! That is some collection of paints! I look forward to seeing them being all used up - you realise you will have to show us empty tubes, don't you? - as you begin to feel more able to get in your room and spend time there without so much pain. Thanks for already visiting, and for your lovely comments. I found that little hangy thingy in a small gift shop in Pooley Bridge when I was up in Cumbria. It just sort of fell off the shelf in to my hands... well, it would have been rude to put it back, wouldn't it? I hang it up in the van to remind me of the blessings I have been given this year.
Take care dear friend. Careful with those exercises. God bless.

So glad you have found a chiropractor who has given you hope and seems a great fit. Hope the treatments help. Hubby is seeing a surgeon 1st October as the scan showed a prolapsed disk. I love your collection of paints. The small Amsterdams are ones that I have too along with Distress, Adirondack, Pebeo and a hodge podge of others. Can't wait to see more of your rag book Neet. Happy WOYWW. Sarah #7

Well done Neet on keeping positive about your back. Your chiropractor sounds a lovely person. I have scoliosis and osteoporosis and do a Pilates class at the physiotherapist clinic. It’s gentle and has helped me enormously. Sounds like you are heading the right way now. Take care

Morning Neet. Looks like you have been through the mill so to speak, how on earth you manage the things you do I really don't know. Superwoman I guess. Love your very organised desk this morning with everything in its place. Have a Good Day and rest too, there's always another one to follow. Hugs Rita xxx

So happy to hear that you have HOPE again Neet - and that you have started the treatment and are at least feeling some measure of comfort.
What a wonderful selection of paints you have :)

How interesting that she thinks it's nerve pain and not muscle, that does seem to explain a lot. I'm glad that the regime is helping a bit but the most important thing is that you believe it's going to help - as you say, hope is a wonderful thing. Fingers crossed for you, lovely gal.
I have paint envy! Wow, you have a large stash and in all those glorious colours. I really hope you do get your sewing machine out, it'll be good to have company! I wait with interest to see how your sewn book progresses!!

Hi Neet, I've heard lots of people who have found great help from a chiropracter, when other options hadn't helped, so keeping my fingers crossed for you. Smiling at all the paints, I rarely use them, and have a drawer full, so have told myself I can't buy any more brands till I do! I have a bottle of Rhubarb & Ginger gin, Edinburgh Distillery, and it's lovely, especially with Ginger Ale mixer! Have a lovely week, hugs, Shaz #4 X

So good to hear a positive side to the problems Neet, amazing how a kind person can put us at ease and give us hope that a solution can be found. We are all keeping our crafty fingers crossed that you will soon be a pain free.
I'm really looking forward to seeing your completed rag book Neet you certainly have plenty of paints to choose from. I have a large selection myself which I have been going through over the past couple of months discovering just how many have split and turned beyond help.. such a waste but i'm reinventing ways to use them so all hope is not lost yet.
Sending gentle creative hugs your way & Thanks for sharing WoywW Tracey #15 xx

Your post really has made me smile today Neet. Not only because your sound so much more positive about your back problems but also because you are using the baby changing boxes that are exactly the same as the one I used when my family was little....it brought so many happy memories flooding back. Alas my box died many years back and I now have a white/beige one now.

I am glad that the chiropractor has given you some hope and am praying that she really helps. Have a lovely week. With love & God Bless, Caro x (#11)

Wow you have so many lovely paints. I love it! Glad you are on the mend. I have used a chiropractor in the past for my neck and upper back and it worked wonders. The combination with some stretching exercises should help.
Thanks for sharing your collection of paints today!

Hi Neet, I'm so impressed with your paint storage. I've never seen nappy storage like that - it's a long, long time since I had to store nappies. Look forward to seeing your completed rag book. You sound so much more optimistic this week and I'd say that's down to your chiropractor - she sounds like she knows what she's doing. Have a good week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #19

Ah Neet, just being told that there is something that could be done is a huge encouragement isn’t it, and I don’t doubt that you feel better for knowing it. Now it’s a patience and see it through game...this heat ice rest thing is a lot of work, but I’m told that the top athletes do it at the first sign of nerve trouble., me and Mr Dunnit have had near hysterics trying it on my shoulder prob....messy!
You have a lot of paint there. I know the Frescos are a particular finish, but are the others different from each other I wonder. I would send the rest of my life using that lot up. And that would hugely distract me from trying to use up my own excesses of stash!

Ooh Neet, there is nothing that beats hope, I am so glad you found her and I hope this just continues to improve as time goes along with the new things to try :) I love how contained all your paint is, mine is kinda haphazard in a trolley cart in the closet. :) ~Stacy #26

I am definitely impressed with all the paint you have! Wow! Glad you found someone who can help you and has a gentle touch! Years ago they were pretty rough (don't like touching my knees to my nose). Hope you figure out your sewing machine! Blessings!

Oh Neet, I can't tell you how overjoyed I am to read that the chiropracter is offering you some hope! They have a very different approach from orthodox medicine. My hubby had trouble with his back years ago and went to one and it was amazing. I am quite sure that the time will go very quickly and you will be having your next appointment before you know it. This problem has been going on for a long time and you may not get a quick fix but it's all a move in the right direction. One of the most important aspects is the psychological effect this must be having on you, taking you from despair to hope, like the sun rising, or the light at the end of the tunnel! Keep smiling my dear.

What a simply gorgeous rainbow of colour your post is this week! All those delicious paints! I love all the boxes with their trays etc. My acrylics are all thrown in a fairly large plastic storage box. I don't have nearly as many as you so I'm happy to rummage! The large pots of black and white are permanently out on the desk because they get used the most.

Thank you so much for your supportive comment. My assessment is this time next week. I can already feel the stress mounting and I can't imagine how I shall be feeling when the time comes - I am absolutely dreading it and hating the whole wretched process. I agree with you that it all seems so unfair and the example you described is quite outrageous! The whole thing makes one feel like a criminal because they are definitely not on your side, not there to help you, but to try and trip you up so they don't have to pay you any money. Unfortunately my hubby has an appointment that morning that he simply can't get out of, so we've arranged for a close friend of ours to take me. On balance I think this is good because I'm not sure I could rely on my hubby not to mess things up if he came in with me, and having him there would just add to my stress as I'd be constantly monitoring him!! He means well but it can be counterproductive at times. By next WOYWW I shall probably be a wreck.

So sorry you are also unable to access the lovely places you used to enjoy visiting. My new chariot is certainly helping with that and it was more of a joy than I could express, breathing the fresh moorland air again! Heaven. I told my hubby we should sell my big buggy but he said he wants to keep it in case he needs it when he gets old and infirm lol!!

So glad you like my little make-up remover pads. I tried them out last night and they worked a treat - I'll never go back to cotton wool again! I had such fun making them, too.

Happy belated WOYWW,
Shoshi #20

Hi there 'family member', yes, woyww does feel like a sisterhood isn't it?! I love all the paints in your boxes, so colorful one would dive right in! I'm sorry I did not show the crocheted skirt still.. I have 'a photo in mind' that takes preparation ánd a good photographer... but there might come one day soon that I think 'oh, to hell with that' and take a pic right in the mirror, ha! Thanks for visiting my blog and hooray for feeling helped (and I hope feeling real better soon!) Love from Holland, Marit #14

Very happy to hear that you have hope again - it's the most precious commodity. I hope (!) that once the chiropractor is back from her break you will find that things improve for you, and it's great that you also have other options to explore in the longer run.

Interesting to see your paint storage. I tend to like to have mine directly to hand for grabbing mid-creation, but there's a limit to how many supplies you can have "right next to you"! I'm particularly taken with the silver tin - I've got some of those (with non-craft stuff in that I could probably get rid of) - never occurred to me that they'd fit paint bottles... useful!!

A very late visit Neet, to visit you, and read your good news at the end of your post, I pray there is help in this, exercises and the heat cold rest routine sounds good till you see her again next, there’s always a reason why there are time gaps, “the steps of a good man are ordered of the Lord” and a dear saint, now in heaven, used to add and “the Stops as well as the steps.”.. so the break in appointments maybe a healing benefit.
Agree that’s a lot of paints.😉 Mine fit in one very small basket and rather think there are other things as well. Think there maybe twelve!
Happy very belated WOYWW. Thanks for sharing, Shaz in Oz.x #4
