WOYWW 440

Once again we are here to celebrate another Wednesday with Ms Julia and her faithful band of followers showing our desks whether in a state of utter chaos or tidiness - and maybe sharing a project or two.  Do feel free to join us here.

My desk this week has yet another UFO on it, this time from a workshop I attended on Saturday at AftH with Sandra as the tutor.  Sandra does lovely handwriting in her Journals and she was going to show us how to do something similar.  It was good - she took me out of my comfort zone and made me write BIG.

Here is a peek at the work we did:

And the reason it has not been worked on this week, apart from the fact that I have been spending time with my other half is that I am going away at weekend to the Mixology Retreat with Andy Skinner (my fave Mr Rust/Skull/Steampunk/You Name It Man) and I have been adding some more touches to my hat.  Sorry I am not showing you anything but one side - there is a story - I wanted to add some bullets but have not been successful in finding any, replica ones of course, and so I decided to make some from polymer clay.  Not showing you!  If you will pardon the terminology they look like golden 'willies'.  Even had Shaz on the lookout for me - thanks Shaz and Doug, still no joy.

So I have added a bit of glass.

Two bulbs and a glass bottle

I will take some photos of it next week to share with you but don't want it to be on the internet until after Saturday.  It does have rather a long feather on the other side but I stick that in at the last minute as I fear it might get bent.

Well, that is it, I will go and nurse my poor fingers that suffered with the awl putting the brads in the leather band.  Might even be on the sewing machine later ... but what will I make?

See you soon.

LOVE the hat and can't wait to see the full reveal, so to speak, though the golden willies sound as if they may give some ladies the vapours 😉 Have a wonderful time at the weekend!

Hi Neet, Shaz sent me the message about the bullets as she knows I have some. I get them when I go to the Steampunk festival so I know they are available just not sure who I bought them from so will keep looking but there are plenty on line selling this stuff but you may have to order them from China as I know that's where this guy gets them from. I'm wondering whether I could make a mould with one of them. Love the AftH book, gorgeous. Have a great and crafty WOYWW, Angela x14x

Lovely lettering Neet! It's good to get out of our comfort zone once in a while. You absolutely must show us that hat when it's ready! So intriguing! Have fun with Andy - I did his Wanderlust lesson last year, but was infinitely inspired! zsuzsa #16

Hi Neet! It was a pleasure to meet you at the crop, I see you have been to another good workshop - I am very much into fancy lettering and really love what you made!

Hi Neet, a shame we couldn't track any down. There has to be a supplier somewhere! You've done a great job with the glass items though- and you could always ask Andy, I bet he'd know where to get some! Can imagine the difficulty of getting an awl through that leather too. Enjoy the workshop,Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #10 XxX

Hi Neet, I think too many of us are not confident enough to use our own handwriting on our work. I know I avoid it as is evident by my large collection of word stamps and dies. So anyone that encourages you is doing a great job. Looking forward to seeing how your hat decoration develops. Have a great week. Elizabeth x #22

Hi Neet. Can't wait to see that hat finished. DH used to have some bullets but got rid of them. They were examples he'd worked on when he worked at IMI ammo division. Love the handwriting. I'd love to do a course to improve mine so that I could write in my cards. Have a great week. Anne x #26

Hi Neet. You obviously missed last week when I said the quilt was for Dods Aunt who is celebrating her 100th birthday. Her eyesight is failing but I’m sure she will be able to feel the quilt and see the contrast if the squares. 😀
Hugs,

Looking forward to seeing you modelling the hat. Pity you didn't live near me my friend has a metal detector and came home the other morning with two bullets. I little rusty but they would clean up
