WOYWW 381

Gosh these Wednesdays don't half seem to come around fast.  Mind you I have been doing a lot of sleeping.  Whilst I was in hospital I was given two bags of blood as they said i was anaemic.  Got to go back this Friday for some tests (Ugh) and hopefully they will find out what is the matter with me and put it right.

So once again my desk does not have a great deal to show.  But I did go out on Sunday with my friend Lorraine - to a workshop by the talented Tracy Scott.  Now Tracy is a favourite of ours (Lorraine and I) and we enjoy doing workshops with her  This time it was my choice and we did a journal page.

Forget my figure - Look at the background

We did lots of texture on our background - paper, different pastes, paint, stencilling and stamping. Tracy also taught a technique new to all of us and that was 'glazing',  I still need to do do some work on my page - the figure needs working on and I have to put some black and white pen work on the background.

Now all this is leading up to my desk because on my desk today are some stamps by Tracy both for PaperArtsy and for Stampotique.

The two stamp sets you can see in the background are from PaperArtsy and in my journal there are two figures, both Stampotique stamps with the other stamps around them and some Carabelle ones at the side.  I have another figure but she isn't coming out to play as yet.

I sat for a short while this afternoon colouring in the figures and just a little on the background with my Prismacolour pencil crayons.  That is about as much as I can manage at the moment - colouring in my stamped images.  My desk is NOT staged,  I found out that the best way to be able to access all my delightful colours is to have them out like this.  Aren't those pencils fab?

I might put some more background stamping on another day just so that I can try out more of my pencils.  Love blending colours together with them and it is so easy with these as they are waxy and soft.

Mind you we did have a debate about pencils and apparently these have been superceded by Pablos and Polychromos.  Anyone out there have any preferences or any views.  I would love some feedback.  If I decide to buy some more another question would be do I buy a set or do I buy colours I tend to use a lot?

Well, this turned out to be a longer post than I imagined so I will leave you my friends.  I am going to catch up with one or two WOYWW'ers (firstly Margaret and Shaz who I mentioned last week) this morning whilst commenting on blogs.  I cannot imagine anyone not knowing what I am on about but just in case there is someone out there you need to follow this link to take you to a very inspirational lady and then link on to some of the names in her post so I suggest you put the kettle on first.

Before I finally do go may I extend a warm welcome to Felicia, my newest follower.  I suddenly noticed Maxine was not the last face in my list of followers.  Which reminds me I owe Maxine an email too.  Hopefully Felicia I can get some work done in the coming weeks.

Great looking stamps and journal page. I have a ton of pens, pencils, colors etc and like you about the time I finally get this or that lot bought another new thing comes out…I don't know how many different sets I already have. I think I will just have to survive on what I got. Haven't been able to use them due to doctors appointments and various other stuff this past week. It has to slow down sometime. Hope you have a great week and they figure out what is causing your anemia. Vickie #4

Lovely selection of pencils - I love to use my old Karisma pencils but they are no longer made. They are soft and high pigment but need sharpening regularly for a point if you need detail. I also use Stabilo carbothello pastel pencils which also have high pigmentation. Have fun and immerse yourself in something newthis week x Jackie 15

I know it's a pain having a transfusion when you're anaemic but it does save being on iron tablets for months on end...the same happened to me after my son was born. I do hope that it helps put some fizz back into your system and I'm crossing fingers for Friday.
Meanwhile crafting definitely helps..your pencils are beautiful. I'm lucky enough to own a big set too. And it's definitely an aesthetic thing, the colouring pens like Copics just don't look as gorgeous as an array of coloured pencils does...it's a sight to gladden the heart!

Love your pencils! I have a tin of 24 Inktense which I love to use to colour in. I enjoy painting water round the edges to soften the image .... just me.
Have a good week, lots of laughs

Hi there dear friend Neet, so nice to be WOYWWing. I've the exact same set of Prismas...my sister owned my set then she upgraded and gave me her set for Christmas only way I could have afforded them as they weren't cheap. I've also a set of Artist 120 Derwents, and another set of 80 Caran D'Ache supracolor, very soft and blendable. They are water colours, too but think if was going to say a fav the Prismas would be the ones. But they all have their uses. Love the look of Inktense but never used them.
Well I am praying earnestly dear sweet friend for a solution for your illness. The waiting seeing and testing are a pain.
So praying for wisdom and answers. God richly bless you.
Hugs,
Shaz.x

Your journal page looks fabulous - what fun to have a workshop with Tracy Scott! Love what you are colouring too! My preference is still Derwent Coloursoft pencils and Inktense as watercolour pencils. Looking forward to Port Sunny! Sorry not to have been around much lately! Hugs, Chrisx

Thanks so much for your lovely comment on my blog, Neet, and for being such a big fan of Oreo :) Poor you getting a blood transfusion! Hope you're feeling much better soon and it's nothing to worry about. I love your girlie, even if she needs more work. Awesome background too! Regarding the colour pencils: I have a small (24) set of Prismas and Polychromos and some Coloursoft from Derwent. I think the Polys are comparable to the Prismas in quality, but I think they're oil based as opposed to wax-based like the Primas, which might make them blend differently, I'm not sure. The Dervent ones are good value and quite soft and blendable as well. I usually buy a small set of pencils or crayons (12 or 24) with just the basic colours because they are better value than buying them individually and then buy some of the other colours that I like individually. I find if I buy a big set (48+), some of the colours I will never use. (like I don't need 50 shades of grey, LOL!) But that's just me. I like having my colour pencils, but I never actually use them, LOL! Sad but true! Have a happy week! zsuzsa #24

Hope they get you sorted out soon. Glad you had fun at the workshop. The page looks fabulous. I like Prismacolour pencils. My only complaint is that they don't sell smaller colour sets. I first tried them out with a small set of 24, decided I liked them and went with the 48 and ended up with mostly duplicates. If I upgrade again I'll end up with more duplicates. I know there are singles but there isn't anywhere around here that sells them. I'd like to see colour sets - as other companies make.

Off my soapbox - sorry this turned out to be a rant!

Happy WOYWW

Hi Neet, I can't help feeling you sound a bit fed-up, hopefully they will sort you out soon. Pencils! I don't know! I have tons but can't make my mind up about them. The funny thing is that I have some really old watercolour pencils by Conte and I still go back to those they just seem to work for me. Anyway have a lovely woyww and thanks for the visit to mine, Angela x 16

Happy WOYWW. Hope the hospital has some positive answers for you. I totally understand the need for more energy. I have been too exhausted to even sit in my craft room and watch YouTube videos, so I know it was bad! I have those pencils too - and also a cheapie set from WH Smith, which are actually very good and well thought of in the 'world of colouring'. Ali x #33

Neet, sorry to hear about the blood transfusion and obviously the poor feelings leading up to that! I hope you are so much better soon! I love your little girl, too cute! I love Derwent my pencils. I bought others only to be a little dissatisfied. That's just an opinion, like others! LOL Thank you so much for the shout out and the welcome! What a sweetie! Get well soon and blessings for the rest of your week! :) Felicia #44

Based on your portrait, it sounds and looks like you had fun at the art workshop you attended with your friend. I love Prismacolor pencils, of which I have a regular set and a water soluble set. I like to blend my own color combinations, but sometimes I will buy individual colors that I "just can't live without." LOL! Anyway, thanks for your visit to my blog and blessings!

Hi Neet
That IS a lovely background. Such pretty and relaxing colours.
Hope you are feeling a bit better. Did the blood transfusion help?
Have you at least downloaded the Wanderlust videos? If you are meant to be resting, maybe you could just lie back and watch some. A lot of them are very restful, as well as informative :)
Hope you have a better week.

Hello Neet, hope they can fix you soon. Those prisma pencils are on y wish list, you can recommend them? Gosh, you sound just like my husband, don't spend too much :-) I didn't do many classes from wanderlust yet, really need to though, because indeed it is otherwise waisted money. Thx for you visit Vicky

Thanks for your return visit, Neet, and for your encouraging and lovely comment! I am pleased with how that Zentangle turned out - just got a bit more work to do on it before it's complete, and then repeat the exercise for the duplicate album I am making! I am going to do several pages like this - it all adds interest and texture. I am back on track emotionally, healh-wise, and am sure the scan result will be fine. The support of others going through the same things is invaluable!

have a great week.

Hi Neet, those pencils are gorgeous. Just having a collection of so many colours like that must be a joy to look at. Your journal page is lovely - it's a pity we don't have feely vision in blogland :) So sorry to hear of your continued health problems - two transfusions seems a lot to me. I'm anaemic too - cause still unknown but I take iron tablets daily and that seems to keep me ticking over. Thanks for your earlier visit and for the tip about photocopying the paper bag - I will certainly do as you suggest. Take care and be sure to rest. Hugs, Elizabeth x #45
