358 - WOYWW

Here we are again, another week has flown by and my desk is revealing very little.  To be fair I have been away all weekend teaching Distress Techniques to some lovely ladies and now I am putting my stuff away.  Pop along to My Stamping Ground to see what others have been up to - and what the main lady herself has been doing.  In the meantime, as promised over the past couple of weeks, here are my sample cards which I did for the Oyster Stamp Retreat held in Daventry:

This was my first card and I did it with a double mount.  Then realised I would have to cut lots of card for the ladies and also they could be a bit pushed to complete in the time allotted with two backgrounds and cutting more card.  So I went down a simpler route which enabled me to cut all the card for them, ready to Distress.

Now I am hopeless at thinking of cute sayings to put on these cards so this is the only one I came up with - I was quite proud of myself, but I don't think any of the ladies used this saying.

A card for a man!  We all struggle at times so I thought I would throw one in and here it is.  You might wonder about the blank bit at the bottom of my cards - that is for any sentiment you wish to use - Happy Birthday, Get Well Soon, Congratulations or whatever.  I often put cards in a box to be used later but don't put a sentiment on the bottom - that way it has multi uses.

So there are the first three of my six samples, done solely with Distress Inks (my faves remember). Won't carry on with any more as this is supposed to be about my workdesk, which is below, but will try to get the others uploaded at a later date, but not before too long.

Bottom left you can see a tag I made years ago with Leandra at a Stamp Camp.  Well, I used the idea again and we made tags on the Friday evening but unfortunately I was too busy to take any photographs.  Shame as there were some great tags produced.  I bought some more reinkers for my DI's and as I haven't worked out a great way of storing them I am trying to make dividers to fit in my Felix boxes - that is what is on my score board.  There is a piece of cream foam to the left of the board, that is what Liz gave me to finish my edges off when I make a box.  Thanks Liz!

As you can see Monkey and Katie Koala are sitting watching what is going on.  Monkey came via Tea Bags and Katie was a gift from my buddy, Shaz in Oz, when she visited me in Manchester. Looks as if she has lost her bow again!  That girl and her ribbons!!

See you next week ...

Hello and looks like you had a lot of fun teaching last week. I love your cards and those crazy birds, I have finally ordered a mini set of them for myself. Can not wait to see your re-inker storage when done. I seem to be working on new storage projects myself lately....such fun organizing I have. Have a super fantastic week. Hugs~Anne L

I'd love to do a workshop with you Neet. So thoughtful to have the card cut alrerady. It can be stressful to cut card in a workshop situation. I tend not to go to workshops where you have to do that. Love the birdies.Your quote is spot on!
love your calm,pretty desk.

Great idea, to leave space on a card for a sentiment. I will have to remember that and make some extra cards (I'm running out....) Happy woyww and a hug from Holland, Marit #26

Hi Neet....I'm back to answer your question before I forget. The new work will probably be slow starting as the shop is only opening tomorrow but as the fittings come in the ladies will be sent direct to me with their dresses. I will do all the fittings and alterations in my new sewing room and the shop take nothing out of what I earn. There are two of us seamstresses working for the shop so if I am busy with other work I can pass the work over to the other lady.....it's a win win situation as far as I can see so please keep everything crossed for me. It's a job I really love doing so I am thrilled to bits with getting the work.
Hugs,

Hi Neet, the form for the tickets is going off today! I was expecting to be able to print online, so maybe left it a bit late, we will see. It would be lovely to see you, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed a lot! Love the cards, I often don't put a sentiment on cards for the same reason. Before now I've had a box full of Happy Birthday, when I needed a Get well, or a new Home card! Hopefully will be seeing you soon, Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #3 xxx

Your cards are great! I love the crazy birds. Cute idea of putting the flower on the head of one. And I like the saying. Aren't we all just a little cracked?
Have a great day.

Super cute cards, Neet! Love the cracked/crazy pun - surprised your ladies didn't adopt it! Whenever I'm stuck for a quote, I always Google my key phrases + quote and look within images. Always dozens of quotes pop up! Happy WOYWW! zsuzsa #32

Lovely cards! I like the way you leave that bit blank for the sentiment. What a good idea.

I can see your reflection...how lovely! I often make the double mount mistake too! Cards take a lot longer if the ladies have to cut themselves..they will insist on measuring! I love that you, oh wise one, are still struggling with DI storage. I'm not struggling - I've resigned myself to a stack of them in the cupboard!

Hi Neet, at least you have Monkey and Katie to keep you company ... The Boss has abandoned me for the delights of the garden! Your cards are all lovely and I like the saying you used on the second one ... maybe because it describes me perfectly :) Just been catching up on what Flat Susan is up to and where she is at the moment. Hope she is still enjoying her travels. Have a great week. Elizabeth x #33

Lovely cards, Neet, and it's a great idea leaving a blank space at the bottom for the sentiment of your choice, as the need arises. It's a simple matter then, to grab a card and stamp on the right words, rather than having to make the whole card from scratch when you're in a hurry!

I love your creative space - it looks so light and bright and the window to the room beyond, and it's great being able to work across the corner, isn't it.

Many thanks for your lovely comment - I have achieved a lot recently, and have got pretty tired, but I have rested in between and then feel ready to carry on again! This afternoon I got the final bits and pieces back in the room and have taken some photos so will be updating my blog later with the Full Works!

Yes, Phoebe's seizures are very distressing for her and for us. It's horrible to witness. The vet says the increased dose will take a while to kick in so we hope she doesn't have any more in the meantime. She's such a sweet little thing. I'll give her a hug from you! Thank you!

Happy belated WOYWW,
