WOYWW 271

I am not here again - but this time, hopefully, I can link up myself.

This is my desk as I left it on Monday when I went to stay with a friend and have a bit of crafting time and 'nattering' together.

I had been given some of those plastic pieces you can see on the left and had not done anything with them so I decided to use them to decorate a photo frame.  I need a new frame for the latest one of Chloe's school photographs.  (My friend's little girl who I love to bits and vice versa)

Here's the frame

I just painted the frame with Sailboat Blue and then went over it to give it a distressed look with Lake Mist and a dry brush.  I am not sure whether to stick these down or not.  Guess I could stamp something on top of each acrylic piece - I remember using these with Tim Holtz a few years ago at CHA on my Palooza.  So I just put them on Designer Paper like I did back then.   I have even tried putting some jigsaw pieces on top.

I cannot decide what to do - any ideas?

Well, that is it for this week.  I am hoping to show you some of the things I will do whilst away but don't bank on it - we both have the "gift of the gab" and we have a lot of catching up to do with one another.

Hopefully there will be lots of WOYWW'ers tuning in today to Julia's blog.  If any who pass by here don't know - the lovely Lynn had her little dog savaged a few days ago.  I am sure you will join with me in letting Lynn know that she and her family are in our prayers and in our hearts.

It's a great idea to use the plastic pieces I think the blue background is what's giving the problem with those plastic bits. Might work better if the bg had texture too in it :)
have fun figuring out hugs Nikki no # yet

Love the frame - I think I like it with the jigsaw pieces - or maybe you could alternate - with, without....Have a great trip and don't talk too much! Helen, no number yet

Glad you had a good time crafting and chatting, it's gotta be done! I like you jigsaw frame but think that you're right, it does need something else as a final layer. Buttons randomly scattered maybe? Something like that anyway, but it has to be bright....

I think you should cover the frame in the same paper you used for the plastic bits and then ink it a bit darker for a contrast. At the moment the blue is too much of a juxtaposition against the shapes. Enjoy your natter. Hope you get some crafting in too. #21

Hope you are enjoying yourself and not too horse from all the gabbing :) Love the frame idea. I've nothing to add as ideas but I like your thought of stamping onto the acrylic pieces. Pxx

When I am stuck I tend to let it sit for a while. Then when I come back inspiration has struck or I can't remember what I was doing!!

Knock the blue back a bit more or add some pink to the background? Or as Jan says, more brightness onthe top might do it. Dunno, staring at it for long enough usually sparks something. Hope you are having a good time!! Cindy #57

I think stamping on the acrylic pieces too, maybe flowers or animals, depending how old Chloe is.
Enjoy your visit

If they are plastic disks, did you know you can heat them up and then rubber stamp into them and make pretty patterns. I did it years ago and have been looking for those plastic disks for years since and can't get them. They are awesome for stamping into.

Love the give idea too, what a bright and cheery gift.

Hope you have a wonderful week crafting.

I know. I m so used to crafting alone at home that I get nothing done in company! but I love it, and even go to the trouble of packing stuff to do, secure in the knowledge that I won't!! Also..don't ask me about the frame, I am incapable of helping anyone to come to a decision...when I had the shop, I used to say ' I'll give you any amount of advice you like, but I can't choose for you'. Still true!

I like the frame itself without the jigsaw puzzles

Neat desk, Neet :) Hope you and your friend are having a wonderful time crafting and nattering. I see you've had plenty of advise for the frame and really I haven't got any better ideas - I'll just look forward to seeing the finished piece. Hope you have a great week. Elizabeth x #45

Hi Neet, there is so much that you could do here but it depends on what it will be used for. I like it as it is but you could go mad and cover the whole thing in gesso and then spray it with colour but what do I know LOL!

My first response about your frame is to use gesso over the top of all that lovely texture and then bring it all together with some sort of paint, probably metallic or pearlised, if it was me :) That's probably not much help, but I would leave it alone for a while and when you come back to it, voila, inspiration will probably strike :)

great looking picture frame! I love crafting every Monday with my daughter and usually get a lot more done with her then without...she keeps me focused! I keep telling her I will help pay for her to get her teaching certificate cause she is such a good teacher but she says she does art from her heart not to make money...silly child. Have a great week and have fun crafting and nattering with your friends. Vickie #75
