WOYWW 212 Recycling

Well, the weather has picked up again but I believe today is going to gradually go off and then Thursday is forecast for rain - let's face it we need it, we never get enough (scoff).

Stayed up late to get this on the road (as I forgot all about it until just now) and see if Julia is posting at just gone midnight - if not I am going to bed as I want to be up early in the morning.  So what have I been up to?  Making more things with my cat food boxes.  They are proving great for storage and I have an idea for four of them.

Here they are, cut down and ready for covering or painting.  These three plus one more are going to be painted on the base, not the sides, and the inside.  Am hoping I do not need to Gesso the insides and that the paint will cover straight away.

These three are painted with my Dabbers - reconstituted - yes, it worked and they are fine now.  The blue one has crackle on it.

These two are holding my PaperArtsy paints - I just love those Frescos - great finish.

One of these has bits and bobs in it and the other has blank cards ready for decorating.

Hopefully I will get the foursome done soon and then I can show you what I am doing with them - maybe even decorate some of these, above, too. In the meantime I will show you one of my one layer cards
done for a challenge on an internet group.

you can never have enough Male cards

Pop over to the stamping ground and see what everyone is up to. What has Julia got to show us this week?

Isn't it sweet to create hand made storage units for your stash I love making tin cans for my pencils (at least the ones I'm using now)
You can never have enough male cards seeing they can be such a struggle to make lol

Fabulous recycled box idea! I have done something similar, on a smaller scale, using breakfast oats boxes :) Am always looking at recycling boxes, one way or another :)

A good use for the cat food boxes. We only use dried food out here because of the heat, so I don't get these any more, but I remember how good and strong they are.
I like the stamp you have used on the men's card. Have a good day. Kate x #52

Oh, those cat-food boxes look great! We have the very same ones; I must have a go at using them instead of just re-cycling them. And the card is absolutely lovely. It may be one layer, but it manages to really capture the attention and imagination - would do for either gender really, I think. Julie Ann #64

Great job of recycling but sadly I know you won't have as many cat food boxes to use. I bet you think of Max when you are using them too!
Lovely card... is the eye there for a "wink" I wonder?

Love your cat food box storage. Unfortunately Max won't eat the sachets that come in those boxes, but I have used different ones. I like the little boxes that have Philadelphia cheese in, they have clear lids so I can see what is in them and they stack nicely. Great for embellishments, beads and buttons.
Love the card too, I agree, you can never have too many male cards, I struggle desperately for suitable cards for those lovely gentlemen in my life.
Well done.

Hi - great re-cycling there - I use shoe boxes for some of my C6 card stock so they don't get dusty - I never dust - cant see the point... LOL I usually cover them with freebie papers that come in mags - so if they start to deteriorate I don't have to fret over throwing away "nice" stuff... Happy WOYWW - Mxx #99

Great idea to use cat food boxes for storage as they are quite sturdy. I use the washing tabs plastic boxes for keeping odds and ends in but they don't get decorated:(

What a FANTASTIC idea for the empty cat food boxes! Unfortunately, my cat's on a special diet and we get the food from the vet, which comes in bags :-( But! I'm sure I have empty boxes around that I could use for organization such as this. Thanks for sharing!!

Fantastic recycling of your cat food boxes. I've just thrown a load out as I keep them for the same reason - trouble is they were filling up my craft room. i reckoned my cat will still eat so I'll add to the pile again soon lol. Such a creative storage solution you've made with them. And that is one groovy card, love the CAS treatment :) Pxx

Great minds think alike! I've been using felix boxes to make storage boxes for my 6x6 stencils and also made a large printers style tray. Love your idea for using them to store paints :)
