WOYWW 182 and More on Textile Show

Hope the newbies could follow my instructions last week to get to WOYWW and upload their desks/rooms etc.  It's great to make friends this way and Ms Dunnit is a legend who has brought so many people together and is responsible for so many internet friendships.  Last week Julia herself put notes up about it so pop back to 181 if you are still unsure how to join in.

Just a quick peek into my shambles of a room.  Busy reorganising everything.  Disaster!  Remember the bookshelves I had made - well the shelves are starting to split with all the weight so I am frantically trying to move things around - without much success - to distribute weight a bit more.  Why oh why did I not just go to Ikea!!  Why oh why do I have so much stuff!!  Billy, where are you?

The sagging shelves now rehashed with a change of stuff on them

Some of the books had to be moved to here so now the shelves don't look as streamlined as before.  Notice though that they have still not been painted!  I am not a happy bunny with my sagging shelves that now match my sagging body  :(
as an aside: Can anyone tell me the name of the company that sell these shaving brushes please?

To stop the boredom of you looking at my room I am continuing uploading some of the gorgeous work that was on view at the Knit and Stitch Show in Harrogate at weekend.  Ready?  (if you missed the first bit it is on the post before this one)

Just look at this study of Agapanthus.  Beautiful embroidery and beautifully displayed.  Some folks are so talented.

There were a series of these next and I cannot explain them but they were fab.  They had an additional strip of fabric put on them which is pretty evident in this photograph.  A bit like a "spotlight" technique that we do in papercrafting.

Just love these landscapes

I'll finish off today, will upload the remainder tomorrow, with some silk cocoon works by Stef Francis which I fell in love with.

Liking the re-organisation, I wish I had the time to do that. Put it on the "must do list!" Mind you, once the job ends.... (no date yet) The landscapes are fabulous, thanks for showing them. Helen, 8

Morning Neet, I'm smiling now, the same thing happened to me years ago , when I bought shelving that was not fit for the purpose. Your shelves look nice and neat now though. Those pictures are absolutely stunning. Enjoy your Day. Hugs Rita xx

Just read your comment on my blog - wheelie bin was a little find in poundland - now use it as a desk bin even though its far too small but its just to cute not to!

Nope your desk is ok and the shelves are full of loved items that need to be used all the time therefore access is imperative. I am sure you will work more into the room in time and find a way for it to all work.

Happy WOYWW

Collapsing desks are a sign of too much craft stuff, either that or you need to buy even more to prop them up - you decide.
Will have to have a look at your previous post to see more of those lovely photos. Not been to Harrogate for ages.
See you Saturday

Hurrah - I'm going round the 9s, and here you are - love it when you bump into a friend by numbers! I think the reorganised shelves look perfectly smart... annoying that they couldn't stand up to your needs though! And more amazing inspiration from your exhibition visit.... Happy WOYWW!

Oh I saw something the other day on TV how this lady made inserts for her shelves out of mdf and slotted them into her book case.. thought it was a wonderful idea for supporting and dividing the shelves up hmm this is a link to a video of it http://au.lifestyle.yahoo.com/better-homes-gardens/tv-and-video/video/watch/d7e81e6e-27a5-3e88-9f76-0b6f7a87c3d7/de-bunk-the-junk/

I actually had the drawer bottoms fall out with all the weight, trouble is none of us can bear to part with anything.
My work desk is never as interesting as yours.

Shame about the shelves, heaven forbid if anyone ever makes me part with something so I feel your pain! They look good reorganised though. Stunning embroidery too, I looked back at the earlier post as I haven't been here in a while, what a brilliant show. Some folks are so talented it doesn't bear thinking about.

Hi Neet! Let me give you some librarian advice - we put heavy books on shelves all the time the thing is if you want to put heavy stuff on your shelves the shelves need to be made of proper wood - preferably hard wood ( that means wood that comes from trees like oak or beech) Any other shelves that are not made of proper wood ( like the ones made of veneered chipboard) will eventually be sagging!! That is my advice of the day!:-)
Love the photos from Harrogate!
Lots of hugs,
Cardarian

Those stitched works of art are just stunning, Neet. There are such talented people around aren't there. I used to go to a stitching show many moons ago and still have some beautiful threads I bought from Stef Francis.
I have some matching sagging shelves, they should get together!!!
I don't know who makes your shaving brushes but I have some double ended ones from Inkylicious in Batley. They are on the internet!!

Right, brushes - I have a very similar thing sold by Inkylicious (they now do them double-ended and I seem to remember they are called duster brushes). Hope that helps:) Hope you also cure your saggy shelf problem. Don't trust IKEA either as we have any number of drawers/shelves which seem to disintegrate when they are actually used!! As for the textiles pieces (looked at your previous post too) they are positively divine. It never fails to amaze me how people can create such stunning things from fabric and thread. Oh dear! Saggy shelves - I know all about those! We had to buy some new bookcases when we moved! Love your photos from the Knit and Stitch show - would love to have gone - next year maybe! Chris 70

Not boring at all, hon! Gorgeous works from the show, thanks for sharing those! Have you tried to braces under the saggy shelves. L brackets would probably work and they won't interfere with what's on the shelf. Good luck! Nan 114

Oh, my, poor you with sagging bits. I can relate to the sagging body ones!! A good reorg is one thing, but to have to stop and do it when you least want to, then it's nothing but a pain. I think, clearly, you need a room added on to the house, Neet!!

Have a great week! I hope the new arrangement holds up and thanks for sharing the sensational art work from the show!! Darnell #54

He said he was a fraid of coming home from work one day and finding on the floor, underneath the collapsed shelves! I still need more but ran of our wall in my tiny room!:) your work room is lovely and artistic, I'd love to esee more pictures!
