WOYWW 124 and Chaos Reigns

I spend so much time trying to find folks when wanting to leave a comment for someone who has been kind enough to leave one for me and life could be so much simpler.  Please, when posting it would be a great idea if you could put the number you are on the list that week.  Straight away we can come and find you (I say "we" because I am sure others feel the same) - we used to do it but it seems to have disappeared and new peeps are maybe not aware of it.  Just a thought and no way is it a criticism,, just a plea from little old me.

Now to the business - what on earth am I on about - why Julia Dunnit and her phenomenam which is What's On Your Work Desk Wednesday.  Pop over and see what I am on about - you will be hooked.   Now to my desk - this week!!!  As most of you know I have just got back from my three day Polymer Clay Workshop and have finally unloaded my bag.  This is my room:

Literally everything DUMPED!  No available workspace and no time to move stuff at the moment.

This is my poorly pasta machine just peeping in at the left hand side, my syrup tin (stripped of its upper and lower seams), a book I bought, my screen printed pendants, canes for the fruit tarts, crushed clay for Natalia's bracelets and other stuff.

Moving along - new clay (I am converting to Premo as I love working with it) and old clay.  The latter of which is perfectly ok but there are bags of Kato, bags of Premo, Sculpey and Fimo.  Now they all have to be sorted out.

A tube bead roller which Val and Craig gave to us all, skewers, tools, rolling pin, liquid clay, screens, cling film, instruction leaflets and a couple more new books and probably loads of other stuff I haven't mentioned.  On the tiles are (top - bracelet and brooch half finished from Natalia's class, black and white brooch from Christine's class and various screen printed pendants/ear-rings cut from left-overs from Alison's class).

Want to see more chaos?

Pop over to Julia's blog and join in the fun as we all rummage around to see what everyone is up to.  Happy WOYWW!

But first of all feast your eyes on the inchies I got from  the swap: (remember these are all clay ones) - I showed you mine last week.

The bottom two rows feature mainly caning and the one to the right of Alex's Steampunk one is also a cane.
Eva did a button rather than an inchie for all of us, Irene did a Sutton Slice with her face (3rd row down), Kim did Mica Shift (next to the end on second row) whilst the next one along is from Christine Dumont the tutor who did the brooch with us (mine is not finished yet - needs sanding etc) and check out Sue's which I love (first and second on second row down).  Don't know the names of the people for all of them (it is rather frenetic when we swap) but do know that the top left one is by Noella and the top right by Marta, both from Spain.  The face cane at the bottom is Diane's and the Celtic Knot is the cane perfected by Val and demonstrated to us so admirably.

Got to show you the brooch I bought from Marta (Marta is from Spain) as I just loved it and thought I might also put a jump ring on it and turn it into a pendant.  I bet some of my friends will expect me to do something like this - but I am not as clever as Marta - not yet!  Must say this photo does not do it justice as I had to take it in artificial light.

OHH!! Love those inchies. Your desk could be a bit tidier, though (grin).

BTW, I'm glad you reminded people about our number. I try to always leave the number I am that week, unless I KNOW someone has already visited me. It makes it much easier, I agree. Of course, you probably are only saying that because you are #1 this week. Yep, I'm right behind you.

Where have I been? Have I missed your desk before now? I LOVE polymer clay and I don't often see it on anyone's desk so what a surprise! I will probably stalk you now, but in a good way! I was lucky enough to do a workshop with Laurie Mika (polymer clay artist) last year. It was great fun and I've been trying to find time to do more of this. Love all your fabulous looking storage!

I have the book too and she signed it and when I got home I thought I had lost it (long story). Found it of course, late the next day, but not before I had a serious meltdown!

Wow, I can't believe these inchies are made of clay, and the ones on your desk wow. Love having a good nosey around your desk, lots of yumminess to look at. I'm off to check out your last weeks post as I must have missed it and I definitely would like to see your inchies. I would love to do a clay workshop, I love playing and can do a basic cane. Lordy Neet, even your clay collection is exciting to n=me...fancy having bags filled with different makes..I have one unopened Fimo block!!The inchies are marvellous aren't they..I've done some cane work in the past, ever so clever, and the bead roller - what a simple but brilliant innovation. Marta's brroch is pretty amazing - I don't expect it'll be long before you're making them like that.

Such amazing goings on and fantastic results from all your ventures. You certainly fill your life with so much creativity. The clay course sounds superb and I'm so pleased you got so much from it.
I love the brooch... the eye detail is a great idea.
BTW... I got up for the loo at 6.05 but went back to bed... so still don't have 2 x 8 o'clocks! I click on WOYWW if I have to get up but sometimes sleep through.

Me again... thank you for leaving me a comment..in answer to your question... Tasmin has her own passport so won't go into quarantine..thank god..it costs a fortune.. we worked it out at about a thousand pound a month.. so opted for the 50 pound passport, the only problem was having to wait 6 months after the injections before she can safely travel..
not long now though, and I will be back in the Uk,and hitting proper craft shops..can not wait x

Hi Neet, Always do it myself so I'm with you on the number thing ... it makes it so much easier to follow up comments :) Now, canes for fruit tarts ... I did a double-take, wasn't sure I'd read it correctly but I think I've worked out what canes are all about. Love all those inchies. Thanks for the glimpse of your chaos :) Elizabeth x #53

the move is not imminent it is a long term plan - nothing can be done quickly where a state bureaucracy is concerned, I am not a number I am a free madwoman - i have no idea where I am in the Desk Ratings, but you beat me and got to my desk before I hit yours, so no worries,
fab blog, I tried to read every last word, but relapsed and commenced skim speed reading hence I 'misread' and I burst out laughing at the 'kim did mica shit'

I have no idea what caning is except in terms of child abuse.

Hi. I am not sure what you meant about the number as I am a newcomer to this group, but if you mean leave it here in this comment I will.
I was very interested in all your clay work. I used to do quite a lot with Fimo, but haven't touched it for a long time. There are some beautiful pieces in your inchie swaps. It sounds as though you had a really great time at your course. Kate x (101)

I am #100 this week, great idea to post the corresponding to list of who's who.
I always comment back and try to make it through the list too. I think I have only managed once. Usually I right click on the commentors name and open their bogger account and go in that way. the numbers would be much quicker, thanks for sharing.
Keep smiling and creating

Thanks for the message about the numbers. I didn't know about that, being a recent blow-in to WOYWW.

oh can I swap your room for mine? Its lovely and big and organised!! Second thoughts, better not, I'll only fill it hehe.
Not a great clay person as the hands are too hot, or is it too cold, one or the other, and it never seems to go quite right, but the effects that can be achieved with it, are amazing and I am very jealous, lou #124

I think I am number 54, but with what Elizabeth said, it might have changed since then. anyway, to get on with the purpose of this visit, you do have a lot on your desk at the moment, but it makes things so much more interesting for us to look around. I have never tried working with polymer clay. In fact, my only modelling was at school when I made a couple of pots. It does look fun though.
