Wanna Be Fashionable?

One thing that really fascinated me was the Westcott stand.  Not only did they have brilliant scissors but they also did some fabulous T-shirt Make and Takes.  They even let me go back on Tuesday and do another one.

Just look at these

and even the backs were decorated on them - don't they look fabulous?

Not too sure on this one
So sorry I missed the pink one

but I wore this all day

Now somewhere I should have a photograph of some fabulous Westcott scissors.  You can tighten and loosen them to alter the tension for  your own hands.  Is that a good idea or what?

The little key turns the centre screw - loosens the tension for those with weak wrists etc.  Watch out for them, sorry I did not find out the cost.

Tomorrow you get to see my favourite designer for 2013!

Monday and it's Scheduled

Hi Everyone, this is a scheduled post as today we are heading off down towards San Diego and should be on the I5 now bound for Encinitas.  Mary and I intend to see some stamp shops and I think she said there was a Hobby Lobby which I have never ever seen.  Excess Baggage by the sounds of it to me.

Here are the photos of the Ranger section, those of you in England would not believe just how much they mega rave over Dyan over here.  I am sure she will be as big as Tim Holtz shortly.  They love her!

This shows some of her new line.  Don't you just love those swinging skirts?  Oh for a nipped in waist like that.  Here's a closeup:

Had to show you the man himself, you all needed your fix.  Didn't get chance to watch much as someone was asking all kinds of questions and he was demoing all that she asked which was old stuff to me.  I got bored in the end, asked my question which he answered (as usual with a smile) and I left.

Stickles Display

 PP's (self explanatory)

and now ... Vintaj
I didn't get to do the class but Donna and Jenni did - they made some fantastic pieces of jewellery (sob sob!)

That's where I will leave you today folks, more schedules in the pipe line so keep watching!

Still Confused

Am I losing it?  Why do I feel so tired?  Eight hours time difference and I am so confused.  I look at the clock (and there are lots of them here at Mary's) take the number opposite the little finger, add two and I have the time at home in England.  But is it the time daylight or night?  Think I should go back to bed?

No, I want to show you some more of my photos from CHA.  These are pages which make delightful pictures from the Prima stand

recognise the style - did you see this last year?
Just love her work!

This piece just blew me away - I cannot begin to tell you how beautiful it was in real life.

So textural

Not often I covet something but ...

wouldn't you just love to own this?

Right, will leave you with just a visit to Prima for today.  Off to Robert's birthday party later and going to a Swap Meet tomorrow.  Will try to blog though.

Adios!

Artful Times Challenge 20 - "Time" ATC

I chose "Time" (a) because I like anything associated with the word 'time', and (b) because it is still early in the New Year and I was thinking of Old Father Time.  I chose an ATC because I was thinking I would be short of 'time' and it was something small for me to make before I left for America.  What happened?  I had to make it here as I had no 'time' before I left.  So here is my ATC made using one of my friend Mary's stamps

I used two of my favourite inks, Distress Inks, in China Blue and Shabby Shutters stamped in Archival Ink and embossed with clear powder.  Then I stamped some small butterflies randomly and again stamped them on spare card.  The latter were cut out and mounted with one wing via a sticky dot.  The white edging on the photo is because the wings stick beyond the edge of the ATC which is mounted on black card.

I then, later, turned it into a little ATC book which I am leaving with Mary.  She still has the one I made and left last year when I did a workshop and used the book as one of the things they did.

sorry it is wonky and dark (done at bedtime)

I do hope you join us (Von and me) at Artful Times with this challenge, it is an easy one so hopefully we will have lots of entries.  Apologies if I am a little late commenting but I promise I will get there in the end.

We really do enjoy seeing what you all do and it is quite a thrill to see so many of you joining in our challenges.

It's Thursday - Is it Friday in England?

I am so confused with this time difference but am still recovering from CHA so I think this will hit England in the early hours.  Here goes with uploading some more photos from CHA:

Stood talking to Mona at the F&W stand and who came along but Pam Carriker so I had to have a photo taken with her.  You can see her website in my favourites down the right hand side.

and here I am with Donna Downey - can you see how tired I was by this time?  I am definitely doing her workshop again as she was hilarious.  What a laugh we had all the way through - a great tutor and entertainer.  And this time she never fell!  Ask Mary what I am on about!

This was a clock I particularly liked at the Ideology booth (or was it Ranger?) and no, there is not a photograph with Tim Holtz - first time ever!

and I love this picture.

and these lights.

On a walk around Mary and I saw these cute sewing machines.  I just had to stop.  Thought it would really interest my friends Wendy, Annie and Liz.  Will they paint theirs?

These were painted by the two ladies at "Creative Feet"

"Feet" being the ones on a sewing machine, not on the ends of your leggies.  They have a foot which was designed for a visually impaired woman to sew perfect satin stitches on the edge of the fabric. There's also a great piping foot and a couching foot for sequins and upholstery braid where you don't need to hold the trim!

Whilst I am on about Fabric I will show you a doll I saw on the Plaid stand.

and don't you love this face?

Are they fabric?  No, at least I don't remember what the doll was made of but it could be adapted to fabric.

Well, I will leave it there for today, drop in tomorrow for some more snaps from the show and hopefully a bit of inspiration.  I still have my projects to finish off so you have those to come.  Am saving my Viva stuff to the end, especially my present from Brenda.

France seemed pretty big (along with the moustaches), especially Paris at the show so once again I will say

Au Revoir, mes amis!

Is It 189 for WOYWW?

Gosh, I am half asleep.  Managed to sort my bag out from CHA (ie put my 'wet stuff' in a suitcase to stop me trying to take it through customs and having it confiscated), sat in Maria's new car, helped Mary make her famous chicken salad for lunch, made an atc and went to KFC for two buckets of food and a side order of biscuits - oh, and some gas.  Oh I'd forgotten how good those biscuits are from KFC and in America in general.

Becky and her family came over and helped us eat the buckets of food so I got my third and fourth hug from Matthew (and Robert - but shh! he's 16 tomorrow) and that is all I have done but I am so tired.  Eyes hurting etc.  Must stay awake to get this uploaded for Julia's marathon blogquest.

Well, true to the spirit of the quest my workdesk is ... oh heck... not worth looking at because is is bare. Can I be granted a special pardon and show you some pictures from CHA instead?  Please Miss Julia! Promise a desk next week.

Think she said "yes, this once" so here you are

Donna (Doone) and myself getting all Punked (or Steamed) up in the Graphic 45 booth.

Whilst we are at it here is the Steampunk booth.  Gorgeous stuff and I think it is on sale at Michaels.

More Resin
This time Envirotex

Even though I loved the Ice Resin and am so sold on it I do want to try the Envirotex Pouring Resin out to make some of these creations. The one in the foreground (left) was full of tiny seashells.  Not that I envisage doing something like that, I'd rather layer them a bit with clear sections.  But I did like theirs.

Particularly impressive were the pictures they had covered with the product  A fabulous finish!

Look at the hand they cast

Well, I'd better finish off this WOYWW that hasn't got a desk, with a couple of photos of DCWV.  Remember the beautiful dresses last year?  Well, this year a massive

effelump!

More tomorrow, but for now, I am (yawn) tired (yawn) and need my bed  ....... zzzzzzzzz

ps don't forget to check the previous days.
