WOYWW 191

Well, here I am - still in America and today the sun has been shining but there has been quite a wind blowing so don't be too envious of me being here.  It's not exactly sun bathing weather.

Thanks to all of you who have been keeping a watchful eye on my blog, apologies I have not had the time to reciprocate but I will make up for it when I get home between the sleeps caused by jet lag.   Only just over a week now before I head for home.   The time has gone by so quickly and I have not done all the things I was going to but I have enjoyed myself so much.

Here's my desk today

Can't show you the cards I have been making as they are in another room in readiness for Saturday's Stamp Camp and my feet are aching so much.  It's a long trek from the Stamping Room to Mary's Retreat!  You can see some of the boxes ready for the day in the foreground of this "long" shot of the desk/table.

Here is something made earlier though

I think Maureen from Oregon (Hi Maureen) originally sent this to Mary so Mary's daughter, Carrie, showed me how to make one.  Would look nice on top of a gift box to someone or hung on the tree at Christmas.  An idea for Vicky Stampers!

And here is a bracelet made at CHA under the guidance of Julianna Hudgins who has had a bead loom made to enable this to be done so much quicker and easier.  Watch out for it from Beadon (I think that is the company who are doing it).  I got one of only fifty given out at the show.  Whoo Hoo! (So did Donna and Jennie).

That's it for now folks, off to a Stamp Shop tomorrow to see Stacey.  She does some fab You Tube presentations - hope she is at the shop.

Take care all of you, Stay safe and keep tuning in to WOYWW to see what everyone is about.

ps have been living with these two cuties for the past few days

And a Few More Cards

Trying to play "catch up" but not being very successful, am at least a week behind all the activities  but thought I would share a couple of cards I have made at my friend Marys.

This was for Russ's birthday which was yesterday.  Funny, and I had no idea, they live on part of Route 66, or near to it.

This was for Joceylyn who was 8 on Saturday - we went to her birthday party but I didn't go on the Bouncy Castle.

There's a little book which opens at the top to reveal a couple of pictures.  I really wanted to do it like a card I had seen at one of the shops but for the life in me I could not get it to work.

Page 1 of the little book at the top

page 2 of the little book

Must go, things to do, will show you more tomorrow.  Thanks for watching and "hi" and "thanks" to my newest followers.  Will be having a give away soon for my followers.

A Little Bit of Crafting

Well, I am so mixed up in my room that I cannot find all of my things I made/started at CHA so I will show you a smattering and give you an interlude of what I have been doing.  We are busy preparing for a workshop for next Saturday so there are lots of papers to be cut, samples to be made and it is busy busy busy here in the house.

This is a can I made with Viva Paints.

It was a simple old can, like the kind that you get your baked beans in in England.  We then painted it with Luminarte Silks (love those paints) put some Viva products on, cut out a picture, some shells and adhered them to it.  Sloshed a bit more paint on (technical term of mine), tied string around the top, died a piece of ribbon and attached the wire at the top when it was dry.

Oops!  Forgot the cogs.
love the idea - watch out Vicky Stampers

Remember the party I went to last week, well here is the card I made for Robert.

it had a few tags inside

and on the cover

Love the spinner on the back

That's going to have to be it for today as Mary is calling and I have things to do before I set off for the party.  Tomorrow is Ventura so if I can I will post, if not will post Monday.

Take care, especially friends and family in the UK where I hear the snow is bad.  Drive safely!

WOYWW and My New Favourite Designer ...

... is Brenda Abdoyan.  I saw her last year and was blown away by her stuff so it was wonderful to see her again this year.  Here are some photos of the Viva stand and some of Brenda's work:  (this is my work desk again Julia, promise to have a real one next week)

This was one of her dolls with a Kanashi flower which she showed me how to make.  She showed us how to make the flower using tin foil/aluminium but told me how to adapt it to fabric.

These are some of her bracelets.  She does some fantastic Henna Work which I guess spills over into her painting.

Not sure if she or someone else did these shoes. But they were kinda cute.  And the hats ...

But look at this mask

Wait until you see mine ...

The Make and Take was either to make a Kanashi flower or to decorate a mask (just an eye mask) which I, and the girl next to me, made but then she made a flower to go on her mask and I just made one for the hell of it.  Wish I had taken pictures of the masks Brenda had on display but as I was so busy with my own decorating and as she was nearing the end of the day (and her time at CHA - she was flying home early next day) I totally missed out on it.

My Attempt using Viva Products

Alice in Wonderland was the theme for Viva and here are some photos of the stand, so much work, and a lot of it courtesy of Brenda.

Look at all those butterflies that some of the staff had made.  Must have taken them ages to make them and also ages to assemble the stand.  Here's the table for the tea party.

and here is the toad
(I saw Brenda's photo of him undressed - oops!)

 Alice was so cute

and I didn't realise until later that the toadstool on her demo table was fabric

Look at Alice's spectacles - and her lips .. love those big eyes of hers.

That's it Folks!

Hope Julia lets me get away with this as my desk again.  I'll leave you with one more shot.  My beautiful mask from Brenda - if nothing else goes home - this will!  I love it and am so pleased with my gift.

It does look a bit spooky here against the wall in Mary's but honestly it really is beautiful.  See below for close ups.

I should have worn it, with real eyes it looks so much better.
Well, I love it/her!
All done with Viva products.

Now nip over to WOYWW with Ms Julia and see what's in store for you.  Lots of goodies to see and maybe a tip or two on storage.

Wanna Be Fashionable?

One thing that really fascinated me was the Westcott stand.  Not only did they have brilliant scissors but they also did some fabulous T-shirt Make and Takes.  They even let me go back on Tuesday and do another one.

Just look at these

and even the backs were decorated on them - don't they look fabulous?

Not too sure on this one
So sorry I missed the pink one

but I wore this all day

Now somewhere I should have a photograph of some fabulous Westcott scissors.  You can tighten and loosen them to alter the tension for  your own hands.  Is that a good idea or what?

The little key turns the centre screw - loosens the tension for those with weak wrists etc.  Watch out for them, sorry I did not find out the cost.

Tomorrow you get to see my favourite designer for 2013!

Monday and it's Scheduled

Hi Everyone, this is a scheduled post as today we are heading off down towards San Diego and should be on the I5 now bound for Encinitas.  Mary and I intend to see some stamp shops and I think she said there was a Hobby Lobby which I have never ever seen.  Excess Baggage by the sounds of it to me.

Here are the photos of the Ranger section, those of you in England would not believe just how much they mega rave over Dyan over here.  I am sure she will be as big as Tim Holtz shortly.  They love her!

This shows some of her new line.  Don't you just love those swinging skirts?  Oh for a nipped in waist like that.  Here's a closeup:

Had to show you the man himself, you all needed your fix.  Didn't get chance to watch much as someone was asking all kinds of questions and he was demoing all that she asked which was old stuff to me.  I got bored in the end, asked my question which he answered (as usual with a smile) and I left.

Stickles Display

 PP's (self explanatory)

and now ... Vintaj
I didn't get to do the class but Donna and Jenni did - they made some fantastic pieces of jewellery (sob sob!)

That's where I will leave you today folks, more schedules in the pipe line so keep watching!
